Duval Gardens at Southernmost Beach Resort – Adults Only

The rooms have been newly renovated but due to their distance from the main hotel and the amenities it is simply rude to charge a $60 per day resort fee - we weee not at a resort but a BnB 3 blocks away

Tiny Room for Price Only Complaint Upon check in, we were presented with the opportunity to "upgrade" to a "more spacious" room for an additional $50 per day. We took advantage of this offer, only to find a very small room with a king-size bed, barely enough room to enter and exit the bed, and space for only one luggage rack. If this was an upgrade, we dread to think what our originally booked room was like. This was the room we received for about $600 per night! This was our only complaint. The hotel facilities were clean, convenient and beautiful and the breakfast was delicious. The staff were professional, polite and attentive.

Good but would stay elsewhere next time Well located but very expensive. Recently remodeled room had an annoying dripping sound in the wall. Don’t use the shampoo, very very harsh. Barely adequate in size for 2 people.

We came down to Key West for one night to get out of Miami and had such a nice stay, we decided to book a 2nd night. There weren’t a lot of options left, but Wilday, at the check-in desk helped us and got us into another great room. So glad we stayed a 2nd night! Thanks Wilday!

My college girlfriends and I take an annual trip every year and this year, we stayed at Duvall Gardens at the Southernmost Beach Resort. Duvall Gardens is located about 4 blocks away from the Southernmost hotel's lobby. You check in at the lobby and a bellman with a golf cart drives you to the house. My room was great - well appointed, comfortable bed, nice sheets, lovely decor, had a refrigerator, a coffee maker, robes and safe. Basically every amenity you need in a hotel room. I saw a review wanting a microwave - I have never wanted or used a microwave on vacation. The room and bathroom are all recently renovated and everything was very clean. The concierge was helpful in making reservations. She helped us book a sunset cruise and several good restaurants for dinners. The location is perfect - everything was walkable. We took long walks each morning, walked to the pier for the cruise and to the restaurants each night. Don't miss the harbor walk. One downside of the location is that it can be a little noisy. Duvall is obviously a busy street and while Duvall Gardens is on the quiet end, the traffic with people blasting their music and the roosters can be noisy. The room does have a nice humidifier the doubles as a white noise machine - be sure to empty it before you go to bed so it doesn't stop in the middle of the night. Otherwise, be sure to wear earplugs. I had a deep tissue massage at the spa and that was very good. The spa facility is pretty limited - just one treatment room so book early! We had breakfast each morning and everything was excellent. Great selection and everything was fresh. The coffee could've been a tad stronger but I just threw in an extra shot from the coffee maker in the room. We had drinks and lunch at the pool a couple of times. I had a chicken wrap one day that was pretty good. I enjoyed the poolside entertainment. We sat out on the pier another day and the views were beautiful. There was a slight breeze and honesty the weather was perfect. Overall, I would highly recommend this for a girls weekend. We had an amazing time and can't wait to return.

We liked the location, the pools and the beachside. The private jetties with their sunbeams were a nice place to relax. However, our room in the Avalon Building was dark and cramped,with only a small window which was in any event blocked by the TV. There was only one dining facility on the beach which was also open to the public and was always very crowded. Despite this the pools had very draconian rules forbidding bringing food onto the premises. This was very annoying as we bought some sandwiches for lunch one day that we had to eat in our room ! Our other major issue was the exorbitant parking charges, by far the largest of the four hotels in which we stayed in the Keys. This could be an excellent hotel but they need to be just a bit more customer friendly.
