Ould world sophisticated charm in the heart of Killarney. The attention to detail was impeccable with outstanding food served in Brown’s Bar. Extremely convenient to Killarney Railway Station.

My wife and I had a wonderful ten day visit to the Great Southern Killarney at the end of August. As advertised and commented on many times, the hotel is both historic and luxurious. The main foyer is elegant and comfortable for sitting and relaxing after walking the many colorful streets of Killarney or day tripping to Kenmare and Dingle. Our room (the suite right in back of the flags at the front of the building was commodious and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom and its fixtures were all in fine condition. The location of the Great Southern makes it a perfect place from which to visit Killarney. Most of the great shops, restaurants and pubs are a very short walk down a gentle hill. The major attractions - Killarney National Park, Muckross House, Ross Castle and the lakes are a short car or cab ride away. Browne's bar - which serves drinks and a pub menu was very comfortable and hospitable. The Garden Restaurant serves a wonderful hearty breakfast (menu choice or buffet) that is a great was to start the day. We were less enthusiastic about dinner at the Garden Restaurant as two separate chicken dinners featured dried out fowl. Still the room is beautiful and the other dishes were ok. We took advantage of the Spa and both of us were pleased with the quality of the services and the care with which they were provided. While we did not use the pool or hot tub, they each looked inviting. The grounds themselves were impressive - the foliage and gardens are well maintained and the six acre parcel is generally very quiet and relaxing for a stroll or sit down. All of this is great but the true difference maker at the Great Southern is the quality of the service from the concierge, to the porters, to the front desk and waiters and waitresses and bard tenders. Every one of these folks was delightful and made our trip very easy. We were treated with great kindness and provided with great suggestions. I can't say enough about the staff.
