We absolutely loved Kinsale! What a delightful, seaside village. After spending a few days in the area, I can’t imagine there is a better hotel than the Actons! It is such an absolutely perfect location for exploring this amazing destination. The hotel itself is by no means a luxury property. We’ve stayed at a variety of those throughout Ireland, which are absolutely incredible in their own right. However, the vibe of Kinsale doesn’t fit the necessity for luxury. Its a quaint seaside village and the Actons hotel blends seamlessly into its charm. It has everything you would need. We were booked in their Old Head Suite. The room was gigantic. It faced out front towards the harbor. We had a separate sitting room and a separate bedroom with a very large bathroom. Everything about the room was perfectly lovely. The bed was comfortable. The room was incredibly spacious. The bathroom was ideal and the bathing products wonderful. The room was very comfortable and really helped enhance our stay. Breakfast was included each morning. There was a choice of a continental breakfast buffet as well as a menu where you could order hot dishes. The food was very good and service very quick. All the staff we encountered were incredibly cordial and friendly. Again, this is not an over the top in your face luxury experience, but everyone we encountered were incredibly helpful and always had a smile on their faces! You will see lots of golfers at this hotel. One of the main reasons is it’s proximity to the infamous Old Head golf course. We were elated that we were able to spend time in Kinsale, but one of our main priorities and one of the main reasons we chose this town and this hotel was its convenient location to access the Old Head Golf Course. Obviously a review of that golf course is completely separate but if you are in the area and you’ve made reservations far enough in advance, we sure as heck you hope you enjoy that wonderous spectacle! If you aren’t a golfer and you have good weather, you may want to take a drive to check that place out! Its built on a pretty spectacular piece of land! Our stay at this amazing property was simply wonderful. We loved the hotel. We loved the town. We loved the restaurants! If we ever find ourselves here again, there is no doubt we would stay at the Actons Hotel! We have already recommended it to tons of people!

We had a pleasant check in and as were early and room was not ready we had toasted sandwich in the bar. It was tastly but lacked nothing special. When we checked into our we were impressed with room size and the harbour view (on second floor). The bathroom was small and is not 4 star. There was condensation on lower part of window but this did not bother us. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very good and could not fault service. We did go into bar post a dinner out, but found it lacked atmostphere. I think the price for 2 nights was high. Kinsale is a foodie spot and was on our bucket list.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights. The hotel is in a fantastic location, right on the harbour and minutes walk from everything in Kinsale town. There is adequate free parking for guests although the car park can get very busy in the afternoons with people using the leisure centre. we were checked in very quickly by a friendly and helpful gentleman. The atmosphere of the hotel is warm and calm, even though it is in the middle of a busy town. We had booked a harbour view room on the first floor, and initially, we were a bit disappointed with the view (see photos). There was a large expanse of flat roof and a big air conditioning unit right outside our window which really detracted from the lovely harbour view (we were in room 122). The room itself was comfortable if not large and was spotlessly clean. there was a Nespresso coffee machine and a selection of capsules, as well as a kettle and selection of tea-bags. The ensuite shower was wonderful with lots of pressure and no shortage of hot water. We had booked a 3 nights for the price of 2 deal and thought it was reasonable value for the price. The staff, from start to finish were very friendly and efficient. nothing was too much trouble and they really helped us to enjoy our stay. I do agree with previous reviwers that the bar really lacks atmosphere though!

We were a group of six friends from across Cork and chose Acton’s after staying here for a wedding four years ago. From the moment we arrived, the reception team gave us such a lovely welcome. The location is perfect with free parking and everything within walking distance. We had dinner in the hotel and the staff were so helpful and attentive. The food/wine was so tasty, fresh and great value. The newly renovated rooms were warm, cosy, spotless, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. We all enjoyed a brilliant night’s sleep followed by a delicious made-to-order breakfast. With breakfast served until 11 and checkout at 12, we had plenty of time to relax and stroll into town too. Thanks for another wonderful stay!

The rooms were bright & lovely; this even on a foggy Irish afternoon. The service was excellent and the mattresses comfortable. The hotel is within walking distance to town and has free car park. It does seem to be frequented by tour buses.

My wife and I visited Kinsale back in 2019 but didn’t stay overnight, so when we planned our 2025 trip to Ireland, we knew we wanted to spend a couple of days truly enjoying this charming town—and Acton Hotel was the perfect choice. The location is ideal—just a short walk from the lively downtown area, yet peaceful enough to relax and take in the views. Parking was easy, breakfasts were among the best we had in all of Ireland, and the hotel pub served plenty of great stout (though we happily kept returning for a pint of Guinness!). Being able to stroll through Kinsale was a delight. We met so many friendly and welcoming people along the way, which made our visit even more memorable. Our harbor-view room was comfortable and offered a beautiful view of the water—we even got to watch the St. Patrick’s Day fireworks right from our window! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return to the Acton Hotel the next time we’re in Kinsale. Highly recommended! We absolutely loved our stay at the Acton Hotel in Kinsale

Actons is simply lovely. The location can't be beat with just a short walk to the downtown shopping and entertainment area, and of course close enough to to the Scilly Walk over to Fort Charles. The staff was wonderful, food is fantastic and it was our favorite stay of our two week trip simply because it was so charming. Just a 5 minute walk to Blue Haven which had our favorite love music of the trip, we easily could have stayed here at least a week. The locals are amazing, and don't skip out on going to Kinsale Crystal!
