The Oread Lawrence, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

Jess was really great! He came on the late and helped out. The other two were uncaring … We did this reservation through the Hilton website! (Not a third party site) Room 202 last Friday night. The AC didn’t work. The Oread AC expert for the evening said we couldn’t manage the Air conditioning from inside them room and he would go downstairs and fix from his computer. I told the blond long haired girl that we were going to run some errands. If it didn’t work, we would need to move. My husband said it kicked on briefly with warm air, which then brought in a sewer smell. It was so disappointing and the smell was disgustingly bad. I’m am sure they probably knew about it before we checked. At close to midnight we moved out. We were staying 2 nights. Other people came after us and checked in. Jess came on the late shift. Of course by that time, it was sold out. I imagine there was a stand by room for these kind of occurrences or some one special … Jess called around. We did get a room at the Hampton Inn. But Jess thought we would have a comp from the oread due to the complications …for 2 nights. Nobody called or seemingly cared. I am positive Jess left a note. He is 5Stars in my book but not “The Oread”. Do not respond unless you plan making it right. Don’t apologize…Actions speak louder than words. Moving out was a real when initially we were lead to believe it could be fixed. We loved that hotel and maybe stayed there 3-4x prior. We are a gold member, like that matters. Don’t stay in this hotel unless they make it right! Sincerely,

My wife, our 5 month old Pembroke Welsh Corgi and I came back to Lawrence to attend a Celebration of life for the Prof I got my PhD with, Dr. Ron Borchardt. I chose the Oread as its as off beat a looking building as there is and its on the edge of Jayhawk campus. We weren't disappointed. Our room had a terrace facing west and the room itself was constructed of the rough hewn limestone. The staff were gracious and helpful. We ate several times at the Rock & Hawk and had an excellent meal on all occasions. It was several days before classes began and the students were in fine fettle. Lots of noise, fun but really, that's what kids should do. I heartily recommend the Oread and especially the folks who make the place a unique stay.

The hotel was very close to the University of Kansas Football Stadium. Went to the game and had a good experience.

Great location right on Kansas University up on the hill. Unique building! Amazing rooftop bar with spectacular views. Large, spacious room overlooking stadium. Really appreciated the Nespresso machine in the room! Nice workout facility in the basement.

A real gem! We stayed on the fifth floor with direct access to the terrace. It was amazing…watching the sunset from the terrace with a few drinks was peaceful and relaxing. Definitely worth staying here! Tisha at the front desk was warm, kind, and helpful. The girl at the bar was not very friendly but we were only there to get our drinks and enjoy them from the terrace.
