Llao Llao Resort, Golf-Spa

Facilities: The hotel features amazing swimming pools, and outdoor heated pools. Rooms offer nice views of the mountains. However, some guests find the facilities outdated and closer to a 4-star at best, lacking amenities like coffee machines in rooms.

We stayed at Llao Llao for 2 nights on a recent trip to the Bariloche area in January 2025. The hotel is expensive (especially for Argentina), but after researching other hotels in the area, we realised that the location & views appeared to be the best in the region, so decided to splurge for a couple of nights. We weren't disappointed with our decision & even though it's pricey for the room, the location is amazing & as they say it's location, location, location! We opted for one of the more recently renovated superior rooms, after seeing travellers photos & reading not so good reviews of the older rooms and were pleased we paid the bit extra for the superior room. It was nicely decorated, fresh & clean and the views of the lake were lovely. All of the staff were very professional & speak good English and the included breakfast was actually one of the best we had on our trip. There was a fantastic selection of breads, fruits, yoghurts, pastries and eggs to order. The coffee was also pretty decent too! As mentioned before, the grounds & landscaping of the hotel are what really set it apart, with beautiful views over the surrounding lagos & montanas. There are both indoor & outdoor swimming pools with great views & all activities are included, which we didn't realise until we got there & were pleasantly surprised to find out. This includes, push bikes, archery, kayaks etc. We borrowed bikes for one day of our stay & used them to cycle around Circuito Chico, which is a beautiful 16 mile (25km) circuit around the lakes. There are some fairly steep hills, but you will be stopping every kilometre to take photos of the surroundings, so it's not as bad as it sounds! We also stopped at the Patagonia brewery halfway around & enjoyed a cold beer & glass of vino overlooking the lakes. You can also easily walk to the start of the Cerro Llao Llao trail in about 10-15 minutes from the hotel & from there walk for a couple of hours up to the top of the hill & also down to the lakeside and back if you wish. The walk is beautiful through bamboo & fir forests & when you get to the top the views are stunning across the lakes & mountains! We ate dinner at the hotel both nights; one night in one of the Argentinean restaurant which does steaks & also pasta and the other night we ate in the bar area for a change. The food was pretty good quality but very expensive for what you get. The quite average burger I had in the bar on the second night was GBP25 & a 500ml Quilmes lager £10 a glass! Some of it is the inflation in Argentina at the minute to be fair & the exchange rate, but of course the hotel prices are also inflated, which is to be expected given the location & reputation of the hotel. Anyway nothing to complain about really, just something to bear in mind if you are on a budget. Overall we had a lovely stay at Llao Llao & were pleased we decided to splurge to stay there, even if sadly it was just for a couple of nights in a beautiful part of the world.
