The hotel just sends you to the past the moment you enter, all beautiful. Beds and sheets are most comfortable and everything is clean and just fantastic. My favorite was the buffet, my experience was the breakfast, and the buffet was by far the best I have ever had at any hotel (not just the U.S., I travel a lot. The food selection, in addition to the waffles, meats, etc. which were gourmet level done right - the salad bar had quinoa with mango, fresh salmon, the brightest most colorful fresh vegtables you can imagine, cheese and fruits galore. Worth every penny. But the best part was the people, the service was the kindest most professional and welcoming. Shout out to my server Kat, who is such a pro and could be a hospitality ambassador without even trying. Just fantastic, and she really took care of this weary traveler for which I am grateful!! I hope to see you again, Kat! Thank you for making feel like I was home away from home :) - Lisa S.

The hotel is a beautiful historic building that is need of a ton of deferred maintenance issues. It is disappointing to pay almost $500 per night and see peeling wallpaper, chipped pain on every window and door, dusty blinds and extremely cheap mass produced art and furniture and a VERY sub par mattress.This place could be absolutely amazing if it managed by a team of people who understand attention to details. The food was good and the pianist was a nice touch. In my opinion it is the most over rated hotel I have ever visited.

We attended a wedding at the Brown Hotel where we also stayed. It was the most pleasurable experience in every way. The hotel ambiance is a simple elegance, with lovely accommodations. The food we enjoyed at the lounge, dining room and the wedding was wonderful. (Don't miss their renowned "Hot Browns"). A special note goes to the staff, every one of them. Helpful, courteous, and most pleasant. We are anxious to return this outstanding hotel.

I was quite taken by the reviews of the hotel before booking, and excited about the appearance of this historical and flawlessly maintained hotel when arriving, and therefore very displeased and disappointed with the most indifferent, bordering on hostile, welcome at the check in. The receptionist, unfortunately, do not know his name, offered little warmth, asking only curt questions with minimal effort—interactions that could easily be replaced by a machine. A disappointing first impression for an otherwise well-maintained and clearly loved establishment with such a rich history. The room is nice, lobby is beautiful and the history of the building is very impressive, but just a little smile, hospitality and effort from the receptionist would really make a difference. It is all about first impressions after all!
