A great week long stay at the Beachcomber Trou Aux Biches, Mauritius. We had a two-bedroom pool villa which was ideal for our family of three. The villa was very well equipped with two bathrooms, a kitchen, large lounge area plus the outside private pool, sitting and dining areas, and a BBQ. A special call out to three staff. Preetum was our villa ‘host’. On half board we had the option of breakfast in one of the restaurants, but most mornings we opted for Preetum to make us breakfast in the villa by the pool - a full combination of freshly cooked hot food as well continental options. Preetum was most welcoming, full of help and great information and if there was one good reason why we would return then it would be him. We also had a BBQ in the villa one night so I would also like to recognise Canden, our chef, and Jocelyn who helped present the food, laying the table with rose petals (we choose the evening it was raining a little). We had a great evening and lovely food. Thank you to all the Beachcomber team. On a wider note, the hotel was well presented with lots of dining options. Buffett was probably our favourite as we could always find food we liked. The hotel grounds were immaculately kept and beautiful to walk around. We did not try the tennis, golf, or spa but they all looked fabulous. The beach here is public as are all beaches in Mauritius. A wrist band identified hotel guests and sharp-eyed security made sure only guests were allowed on hotel property. The beach itself was pleasant but not very wide. Swimming areas were roped off and the seabed gently sloped towards the reef. There was plenty of options for water sports available along the beach front. Taxis were easily bookable through the concierge – the airport was around an hour drive as it is on the opposite end of the island, and Port Louis was around 30 mins away (avoid rush hour!). Regular busses pass the hotel for shorter trips to Grand Baie. Just 10 mins walk from the villa there was a Pharmacy, a few small shops, and a Chez Popo supermarket.
