The Royce

I often drove past The Royce while it was closed for renovation and when it finally reopened, I was eager to check it out. I finally got there two years later. On arrival I was warmly welcomed, shown to the lift and offered help with my luggage. I arrived an hour early and appreciated being given early check in. My room was beautifully decorated and appointed. The designers have done a fabulous job, every element felt high end. The bed was very comfortable and having two comfortable chairs is a rarity in hotel rooms nowadays. The Royce is one of most beautifully decorated hotels I have ever stayed in. Every area is stunning, from the seating in the foyer, to the ballroom's library, to the room corridors. The Showroom Bar is definitely the showplace of The Royce. The art deco decor is truly superb. The food equaled the setting, service at times was a bit flippant, but improved as the night went on. Breakfast was ala carte and the quality and taste certainly didn't disappoint. You can either sit in the conservatory overlooking the courtyard or inside the very pretty dining room- featuring beautiful bird murals. The Royce is about 10 minutes by tram from the CBD or a very pleasant 30-minute walk along beautiful St. Kilda Road. I loved staying at The Royce and would rate it amongst the best hotels that I ever stayed in.

The Royce hotel was again our getaway to an unforgettable weekend. From the moment we stepped in to the Royce we were transformed into another world. This hotel oozes quality with silver trim, crystal chandeliers and marble floors. We were greeted by the lovely James who offered to upgrade our room but we were happy to stay with our designated room. Our King Balcony (502) was beautifully appointed with Molten Brown products. Our private balcony overlooked the Shrine and Melbourne's skyline. The perfect location to enjoy our fruit platter arranged by James. We booked a Luxury Escape package which included breakfast / nightly cocktails / valet parking / dinning credit and late check out. Stepping into the Showroom bar with it's swepping staircase, polished chrome pillars was the ideal location for our evening cocktails. The Terrace is a stunning space to enjoy breakfast. Among the choices are scambled eggs & bacon, buttery pastries, seasonal fruits and yoghurt. Sleep quality was a highlight with high quality linen, plush pillows and blackout curtains. Literally heaven. While the hotel is undeniably chic, what has always stood out is the hotels humility. The service flows effortlessly from receiption to the bar staff to housekeeping. The Royce is located along the Grand Old Boulevard "St.Kilda Rd", perfect for tourist with trams and a short walk to the Shrine or Botanical gardens. A special thanks to James, who was always ready to assist and handle all request with true professionalism. This short stay again will stay with us for a long time. We left feeling not only relaxed but truly cared for. Already looking forward to our next visit. This is a nice property close to Albert Park. There is a Metro stop right outside the front of the hotel which makes it easy to navigate into the central business district (it is also an easy and lovely walk to the city through the Royal Botanic Gardens). The hotel itself is nice and clean. We received a room upgrade on check in, which was a lovely surprise, and the room was massive (including a sitting room) and comfortable. The shower/bath has a challenging dial (it took us a bit to figure out) and really slippery floors (beautiful tile that gets very slick when wet). Breakfast was very yummy, albeit service was slow (budget an hour). James at the front desk was especially helpful during our stay. Overall, a comfortable place to rest in good location.

The Royce Hotel is a world class boutique hotel on the stunning St KILDA Road, from the moment you walk in until you leave it’s exceptional, it’s all class situated within a former Rolls Royce showroom, it’s like a luxury home with wonderful service and exceptional service and stunning food, Pawan Dutta the hotels Executive Chef is a man with such finesse in the kitchen and he must have an equally incredible team, the food is like you are dining in either a hatted restaurant in Australia or Michelin star restaurant in London, so polished and using local ingredients and service with a smile, it’s pure luxury from the rooms to that old world charm, simple spectacle, we will be back.
