Location of this hotel is great but there are so many issues. Our window would not open and without air conditioning the room was stiflingly hot. Maintenance came in and had to repair the window, then it would not SHUT!! We woke up after a rain and it was 56 degrees in our room. The telephone never worked so we couldn’t call the front desk even though we asked them to repair it 3 times. The fire alarm went off at 2 am when someone left their bathroom door open while showering. And the bathroom was so small you could knock out teeth on the sink when sitting down on the toilet. The Manning family recently bought the property, they can certainly afford the much needed repairs! Also be aware that there are NO Taxis or Ubers here!!

Overall a disappointing stay. First the positives. It was my wife’s birthday and a bottle of Prosecco in a bucket of ice and a wee box of fudge was left in the room which was a very lovely touch! Plus we got into our room at 2pm when we arrived, rather than normal 3pm check in time. Now the negative! Breakfast was a shambles. We arrived just before 09.45 on Sunday morning, breakfast is supposed to go on till 10.30 at weekends. There was no fruit left, very little pastries, even slices of bread and orange juice?! Other folks were complaining and the staff were apologetic but unable to replenish items?! The wee restaurant room was pretty congested and not a place I’d wish to relax over breakfast, which is just aswell as there was no space for me, my wife and 8 yr old daughter. So we were showed to the bar area instead. That’s understandable if busy etc but there was a cleaner in there hoovering with an old skool noisy machine. He seemed very diligent and thought nothing of hoovering all the way up to and around us… That wasn’t great…but when the bucket and mop with detergent came out I did think that was a step too much for a Sunday morning breakfast for a night which cost £500?! I like the hotel and have stayed a few times previously but that’s a poor end to an overnight stay. The young couple near us cancelled their breakfast order and left after a long wait amid the noise. Wise move! A poor experience for the price paid, and be warned the breakfast situation! Oh and the single tiny lift didn’t work throughout our stay, which is fine as we’re mobile, tho lugging our bags up three flights of stairs wasn’t in my plans!

A lot to like about this place, comfortable beds, lovely views, excellent leisure suite and amazing staff. Let down by wee things cracked bathroom floor tiles, towel rail not working only one chair in a room for two people. Dinner was disappointing with the Italian themed menu in dining room not exciting our tastebuds we ate from bistro menu which was mediocre at best. The restaurant redeemed itself with breakfast which was fabulous with a good range of lovely treats! For the price everything should be perfect and it’s not 😞

Stunning hotel, lovely staff and gorgeous food in the restaurants - only let down by the spa facilities which were very poor.

We had the most amazing weekend at the Marine Hotel for my Dad's 60th birthday! The food and atmosphere were great throughout, and our rooms with views over the golf course to the sea were incredible! The spa was also such a treat, with so many great and unique facilities to try out. I'd like to give a particular shout out to Dawn Hanratty who made my Dad's celebrations extra special by organising a lovely warm welcome and going the extra mile! Thanks so much for our stay and we'll definitely be back!!!

I had booked a stay here some months prior to my visit and began to get a little concerned by some negative reviews, nothing could be further in my experience. Everything thing was just fine, large comfortable room, pleasant public areas and good food at all meals. Maybe the receptionist was a little brusque on check in, other than that all staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely weekend celebration for our parents wedding anniversary. Special touches by staff were lovely and very kind. Restaurant/ kitchen staff served us well at dinner, with food and wine lovely and of a high standard and presentation. Rooms clean, well appointed with little touches like tablet and welcome card, made it personal. Spa fab with selection of pools, saunas and steam rooms to relax and chill. A few adverse comments from others about the building condition. Remember its an old grand building , having been recently refurbished to modern needs, great views, charming old worldy and full of character. We all enjoyed our stay. Thanks again

The hotel was very nicely situated and staff lovely, but although it says it is 5* it felt more 4* to me. Dont let that put you off though as its definitely one of the best places to stay in the area and the whole building and location is quite dramatic in a good way , but I dont know if its because of the fantastic location ie on the beach, five minutes walk from town and near the golf course that maybe it doesnt have to try as hard as it should do. The decor is faded glory, It has grand areas, but it all feels a little tatty and the food in the restaurant is not really up to five star hotel standard. The beds too are just not what you would expect for a 5* hotel either and the spa too is so-so. It all just feels a bit dated but the staff and location are what makes this hotel worth the money.
