Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel

Absolutely disgusting hotel. Refrigerator in room was broken, the curtains were broken and hanging and torn. They said they were sorry and offered me a free breakfast and said they had no other rooms. They also said no worries. The building next to you is vacant so no one will be able to see inside your room. What the heck?! Loud construction when you walk into the lobby all day long not a clean building not clean room rooms such a disappointment…. Go to the Kimpton it blows this place out of the water.!

The only thing going for this hotel is the walking distance to PNC park. I tried calling the hotel before I even went there to ask a question, and had to call four times on 3 different days to get someone to answer the phone. The room itself was disgusting - curtains had stains all over them. The wood was broken and peeling off of most of the furniture. It looked like they hadn’t cleaned the bathroom at all either. Definitely not worth the price! The worst was that they charged me TWICE for the room (once to a card I hadn’t even given them and specifically told them at check in NOT to use). When I went down to the front desk, they said there was nothing they could do, and there was no manager until 3pm (but check out is at noon). They gave me a card for the manager, and it just rings busy every time I call it. Hoping the one charge falls off the correct card, but not confident at this point…

Although the lobby is beautiful, the rooms continue to be a disappointment; dirty, beat up and in need of lots of TLC. Additionally, other than valet service, parking is a 1/10. This property definitely needs an update and overhaul. The REN name and proximity to the North Shore are the selling points.

Marriott Titanium traveler - I stay hundreds of nights in hotels each year. This hotel is one of my worst travel experiences and I would not return. After a long day of travel no welcome just a - hi our valet is full you’ll need to go find somewhere to park. So if there is no parking and you have a car, then what to do? $40 event parking each time you leave/reenter as there were baseball games over the weekend. And he said they can’t valet an SUV anyway it’s too big. How does a hotel in a city not ensure parking for their guests? Check in - No thank you for your loyalty. Just here are your keys. No view, no upgrade. Keys didn’t work … went to lobby again and was told they rekeyed doors this week and if they didn’t work to call from hallway phone. Keys did not work again. There is no hallway phone… On our 3rd set of keys we were able to enter. Booked two adjoining rooms. One Room was not a king as I booked. Booked months in advance. Was told if I wanted a king it would be a different floor than two queen room. … not the room I booked and paid for. 9am Saturday while just getting up to get ready - after travel from a different time zone. Workers started drilling our door lock, tossing metal very loudly as if on purpose, then knocked and were surprised there were people in the room. There was sawdust everywhere, loud hammering, couldn’t get in closet while they replaced locks. Our kids were not even up yet. They chose to do this at 9am on a holiday weekend with guests in the room. Our room started smelling like burnt metal with sparks flying … we left our room. Our door and hallways were all blocked with workers carts. Worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Breakfast coupons were given for 2 rooms (4 people). We ordered kids breakfast at bar restaurant and they only credited for one meal. Had to go to bar for our check and then to sign to the room as they never came to the table. Monday lounge - Worst Marriott lounge I’ve ever experienced, dirty, not stocked - just eggs and bacon. Never saw an attendant. No cream for coffee. Empty trays of what may have been pastries. Will not return and do not recommend.
