The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center, Curio Collection by Hilton

It’s a really nice place and seems to be a great place to have a business conference. Nice grounds. Rooms are very nicely appointed. But staying at a hotel ultimately means you’re looking for a quiet, comfortable place to sleep. And unfortunately, this hotel was neither. I realize it’s an old historic hotel and you get what comes with that but when are hotels gonna learn to put some sort of self closing mechanism on the door to keep them from banging and shaking the wall up and down the whole floor. And that just gets even worse once housekeeping starts in the mornings and they’re doing that to each door of each room multiple times. And as far as comfort, You wanna sleep in the temperature you wanna sleep in. So here goes my usual rant about air conditioning. If you see one of these thermostats that’s in the picture, run screaming into the night. They won’t let you set it below 65 and all the ones that I have experienced seem to not even be remotely close on the calibration. Mine read 65° the entire time I was in the room and I promise you, as someone who perseverates on temperature, it never got below 70.

Chose Hotel Roanoke for a nights stay on our way home to TN from visiting family in New York. Beautiful hotel cute/comfortable room and a sweet waitress named Chrystal at the Pine Room who served us a delicious dinner. This was the perfect ending to our Thanksgiving holiday

Beautifully decorated for Christmas! Found this on accident and glad that we did. Lovely fire in fireplace in lobby along with a gorgeous huge real Christmas tree. The room was spotless and spacious. Best part was the view from our room, that of the Basilica of St Andrew! Especially with me being Catholic. We did eat at both restaurants in the hotel and they both were good. Get reservations for breakfast buffet! The only hiccup per se was that there was no hand/body lotion in the big bottle attached to the wall in the bathroom. If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a hundred times, I prefer the individual toiletries but understand it’s almost a thing of the past, and I’m sure there’s savings in the big bottles but they get overlooked and in this dry weather I sure missed the lotion! Nice memorabilia in room and other places in hotel.

Some friends and I visited The Pine Room after a tour of The Historical Gainsboro Area. We were greeted by an absolutely lovely server, named Penny. She was patient, thoughtful, and so very personable! We were in stitches the whole visit. When our food was brought to the table, it was divine. Not a bite was left on anyone's plate. Chef Drew knocked it out of the park! Great food and service all the way around

Staff is TOP NOTCH and always want to help. Dining, Amanda was AMAZING and made sure I was taking care of throughout. Thank you Amanda. Bruce was awesome. Appreciate feeling home away from home. Jack at the door, the taller young man who picked me up from the airport, (name escapes me) and the tall woman who dropped me off back at the airport. Donna and Shannon at the front desk were above and beyond. I'll also add, Angela and Stephanie at Starbucks were TOP NOTCH as well! Thank you. I may need to leave another review as well. Appreciate you all and see you again soon!
