Ambiance & Aesthetic: The property offers a serene and picturesque setting, often compared to Cape Town’s Winelands, with Cape Dutch architecture and well-maintained gardens contributing to its tranquil atmosphere.

After visiting Kievits Kroon for a wonderful and relaxing one-night stay in September this year, my wife and I decided it would be the perfect place to return to for our 25th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, our much-anticipated relaxing weekend at Kievits Kroon coincided with the hotel hosting a large group of guests from a government educational institution. After spending some time at the beautiful pool area enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, a large group of these guests arrived and began using the facilities in a very loud and disruptive manner. What had been a serene and tranquil setting quickly became noisy and uncomfortable. It was disappointing to see many guests, one after another, quietly leaving the pool area l and soon, we did the same. On our way back to our room, we decided to speak to the hotel staff to express our concern. Later, I also called the reception to lodge a formal complaint and requested to speak with the manager on duty. To be fair, I must say that the staff at Kievits Kroon are always wonderfully polite and helpful. However, in this instance, no one came to the pool area to politely remind the loud guests to be considerate of others who were clearly seeking peace and relaxation something Kievits Kroon is well-known for. My wife and I have struggled to find a peaceful weekend getaway near Johannesburg. When we first discovered Kievits Kroon in September, we were thrilled it felt like we had finally found our go-to escape, just an easy hour’s drive from home. Sadly, after this visit, we now feel uncertain if we can return. To be clear, I understand that the hotel cannot entirely control the behaviour of other guests. However, I do believe there is a level of responsibility to maintain the relaxing and tranquil atmosphere that guests expect and pay for. A gentle intervention from staff could have made all the difference. At breakfast the next morning, I spoke briefly with another couple celebrating their 27th wedding anniversary. They shared the same frustration  their peaceful day by the pool was equally disrupted by the same group. In closing, I would not recommend Kievits Kroon for those seeking a quiet, relaxing getaway unless the management can ensure that the environment remains respectful and serene. One last good note, the spa facility and treatments were lovely and relaxing and I would recommend this, but go as a day visitor.

I visited the estate on the 20 and 21 February 2025 for a conference and was allocated the “hut room” with the Thatch roof. It is raining session but the floors, chair and bed was wet. Then the electricity went out for 45 minutes and the inside latch on my door was broken. Unacceptable. The conferencing facilities and restaurant was nice but without a good nights rest I was annoyed. In the morning there were insects in my room.

Kievits kroon is one of the most prestigious and luxurious estates. All staff members are well trained with great personalities and definitely a 5 star service. The accommodation was very well layed out and neat. We had a celebration, and Kievits kroon spoiled us with flowers and complementary gifts. Thank you for the amazing experience. Definitely recommend the place for all occasions, as I will be visiting the estate again!

Our experience at Kievits Kroon was absolutely delightful! The most friendliest staff members, going out of their way to make the stay memorable and doing the most for a special celebration. Would definitely recommend this wine estate for a getaway with your loved ones! Cannot wait to visit again.

From arrival at the gate with impressive views of the estate, we experienced the sense of excellence. Professional attitude and treatment at reception. Wine tasting with informed staff and generous platters. Masterly prepared meals created a tasting memory to treasure. Luxurious, clean upmarket accommodation. Breakfast buffet variety very impressive. All staff friendly and professional, will walk the extra mile for special requests. Kievitskroon is a beautiful venue, highly recommended for an unforgettable getaway of function.

We decided on Kievets Kroon for a mid-week couples break. Neither of us had been before but it fitted our requirement of being close to Jhb. All the buildings are Cape Dutch style, painted white, with thatch roofs providing an imposing backdrop to beautifully manicured gardens notwithstanding the middle of winter weather. We were welcomed warmly from the entrance gate to our room. The rooms are in various clusters around the property and provide a variety of options to suit different requirements. We had upgraded to an executive room situated in the new block which was close to all amenities. The room was what one would expect from a 4* hotel - it was comfortable and reasonably spacious but no WOW factor. The buffet breakfast with hot egg counter was well presented and there was no shortage of food. A variety of specialty coffees was also available. We only ate dinner at the Kingsley restaurant which was very pleasant. We had the signature his / her treatment in a well-appointed Spa. The spa facilities are impressive but somewhat spoilt by a crowd of ladies that dominated the hot tub to the exclusion of anyone else. The actual treatment we would rate as average. We had a picnic lunch on the one day which was very well presented under the shade of a beautiful tree. On top of a hearty breakfast, the picnic was too much, and we could have easily gotten by on one basket for both of us. There is no gym or decent walking trail on the property, so we took a morning off to go to Wolwespruit - about 25 minutes away - which offers running / walking trails in a clean, safe environment. We had one gripe which was that housekeeping did not remove the room service tray which was outside our room for +24 hours and only removed once we had pointed this out to reception. The winter chills prevented the external pol from being used and thus it was too cold to laze round the pool. I would think that the main revenue stream of Kievets Kroon is its conferencing capacity which is substantial. All in all, a pleasant enough stay but if we went again, we would stick to summer.

If i could leave a 0 star review i would .I had a business event as a healthcare professional at this estate ,I stayed there put of convience. I ate at their resturant as the estate is in Pretoria and is put of the way and you can't travel anywhere else to eat and there are supposed to be resturants of good quality. I had supper ,went to my room and after a while I started to feel sick ,I then had a severe case of food poisoning that carried out throughout the night till the next morning .I had to go to the ER .the hotel called the paramedics and they insisted because my case was so severe the estate manager insisted and said the estate medical Insurance will cover it as I can't not go due to a risk for the estate.i did say I didn't want to go but they insisted. I spent an entire day from 6am till 7pm in the ER.while in the hospital the manager kept phoning the nurse and saying he "doesn't know if it's them" ,"that i was drinking"...after I got back from trip they told me it wasn't them they did a "test " on the "food" and it came back clear .they didn't pay for my medical bill and when I asked the management they said it wasn't them they did a report ,I emailed the estate multiple times and they have been ignoring me.If you want to get food poisoning and deal with terrible and incompetent management and staff then this is the place for you!!!I as a healthcare professional myself will never go here again and wish I didn't to start of with..TERRIBLE PLACE!
