Are you looking for European luxury without having to take the plane? This is the perfect place for a short getaway! The Stonehaven, part of the Relais et Châteaux association, offers a majestic manoir feel, including a quint courtyard with a pool, spa and hammam, and a lovely Italian garden perfect to sit and observe the lovely fountain. In the evening, sit under the twinkle lights and gaze at the stars. Great for a romantic getaway, any season! The main building, with its rich history, offers a luxurious feel, while still being inviting and warm. The staff is very friendly and available to accommodate your every need. Take a minute to enjoy a sip of the hibiscus rose tea, it's refreshing! Note: The hotel offers a safe space to store your bicycles. This was our second visit. The first time, our room was in the main building. A little smaller and thight, these rooms are furnished with antique furniture that gives the space its charm. Yet, sometimes this might hinder comfort. We decided to experience the adjacent building for our second visit. The pavillion offers larger rooms, suite-feel, again filled with antique furniture to create a luxurious vibe. Even though many details are present, such as very comfortable beds and bedding, lovely carpet, good quality coffee and sweets, the lack of simple commodities are felt (a full length mirror-so important for getting ready, a working desk, comfortable reading chairs, foot stool or stool at the foot of the bed, a deep and long enough armoire for women's clothing, sufficient hooks in the bathroom and around the room for wet bathing suits, towels, or even coats). When you stay for a few days, these details become little irritants that could easily be remedied. The onsight restaurant offers all three meals. Breakfast are delicious, with fresh ingredients, homemade jams. Note: A little pricey. We ate dinner one night and had mixed reviews. Warm feel when seated in the sunroom part of the dinning room. Some of the food was fresh and complex (yes, the signature quail egg starter is amazing), and other courses were trying to hard to be something. We were sadly disappointed in the lobster dish, a stuffy-wintery presentation more than a fresh summer taste. Sometimes, simple is better. It did feel like the chef was trying to hard. That said, we still recommend the Stonehaven and will go back. The hotel offers a resort feel, complete with a lovely pool area to bask in the sun! Access to hiking and biking trails directly on the property makes the Manoir a great place to settle for a few days and enjoy some time in the Laurentians.

Excellent experience with the hotel facilities, however, my first impression was not good as my room had not been cleaned and ready when I walked in and was surprised to see it that I was changed to another room. Besides, the introduction tour was cut short that I need to explore myself during the stay on the last day before checking out. It could be better…
