Hotel St Francis

This is the best and most convenient, well staffed luxury hotel in Santa Fe. It's right across the street from the best restaurant and one block from the square. We were absolutely astonished by the Cardinal Suite with all its many appointments and amenities. Let me say Secreto, the hotel bar, has the best and most uniquely delicious Red Sage margarita I have ever had. I've head Sectreto is the best bar in Santa Fe and now I know why.

We stayed at Hotel St. Francis in Santa Fe because of the hype on their very nice website. We were disappointed. The problem was that the hotel charges extraordinary fees, but delivers a less than ordinary experience. And they add mandatory surcharges for parking, coffee in the lobby, and 2 pints of water/day, even if you do not use them. Nor breakfast included. The hotel is historic, yes, with high ceilings and lots of potential. But put some artwork on the walls in the rooms, add a mirror, maybe some color, a couple more tasteful antiques. We travelled New Mexico for 2 weeks, and this was the plainest room we stayed in, no charm, little light, sad because it could be so charming. Further, our assigned room was small, plain and dark, and could not deliver hot water after 5 minutes of letting the faucets run, and the bathtub drained very slowly, suggesting ther infrastructure could use some updating. To be fair, the staff was pleasant and professional, always, and moved us to a larger room when we reported the water problem. Finally, the lobby smelled of cigarettes, for 4 days, and close to the front desk it reeked of cigarette smoke. We asked about it and were told it's a special smoked agave cocktail that's served in the lounge off the lobby that makes the smell. Not buying it -- the lounge smelled fine. It was the front desk, and the reek increased when a staff person would come through the staff door behind the desk, suggesting regular cigarette use in the staff room. In sum, do not recommend, would not stay there again, and value is absolutely not delivered for the cost of staying there.

Such a wonderful experience here at the Hotel Saint Francis. Everything was just perfect. I especially loved when they lit the candles in the evening. The view from our room was straight out to the mountains. I can’t wait to go back. I highly recommend staying here when visiting Santa Fe.

We stayed here the weekend of The Indian Market and it was so fun! This is a great location...it is a very short walk to the plaza and we walked to all our favorite restaurants. There is a wonderful patio behind the bar/restaurant at the St Francis that we enjoyed every afternoon for happy hour and there was a live band on Saturday night! Super clean rooms and very bright! The convenient location made a world of difference! The staff was very friendly and super helpful!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is lovely, peaceful, well appointed and in a great location. The staff are knowledgeable, polite, friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!

Hotel St. Francis is our hotel of choice when traveling to Santa Fe. We've stayed many places in the 20+ years of yearly travel to NM, and this hotel exceeds our expectations every time. We love the architecture and history of the building, its proximity to the Plaza, friendly and attentive staff, and comfortable rooms. We always enjoy having an evening cocktail on the covered veranda.
