Penha Longa Resort

The compound looks good at entrance, but at check-in it was horrifying. We are family got split across 3 floors and worse is we surrounded by a noisy group. When we asked reception why did they split us up, they say there nothing they could do about it, this is really a 3 star hotel service, not ritz Carlton We talked to the manager and he don’t understand why noise will affect our sleep! I am speechless, golf course wasn’t well maintained either. It’s a waste of the ritz Carlton brand and unless you plan to be drunk every day, I doubt you can relax.

We have stayed at this hotel many times over the years and have always appreciated its excellent location and overall ambiance. Despite occasional minor issues with the management, we chose to overlook them because we genuinely enjoyed coming back. Unfortunately, our most recent stay from July 4 to July 8, 2024, was deeply disappointing and has left us with serious concerns about guest security and the hotel's response to problems. After returning from a vacation in the United States, our family checked in with four suitcases containing personal belongings and new purchases. On the second day, I noticed the top part of my Chanel bikini was missing. I initially assumed it might have been misplaced among our things, so I used another swimsuit instead. However, on the second-to-last day, I wore my black Chanel knit dress, which I folded and placed on top of my packed luggage later that evening. The next day, I closed the suitcases without thinking anything was wrong. Upon arriving home and unpacking, I discovered that not only was the bikini top missing, but the Chanel dress had also disappeared. The bikini bottoms remained, suggesting that these two items were deliberately taken from our room. I called the hotel multiple times over the following three days and tried to speak with both the manager and security. Initially, I was told that the room was occupied and then later informed that nothing had been found. In the end, I received no assistance, no follow-up, and no resolution. Our room was serviced during the stay by two women: one with glasses who spoke Portuguese, and another colleague — a dark-skinned woman with wavy hair. I mention this in hopes that the hotel might conduct a proper internal investigation. This experience has seriously affected our trust in a place we once considered a reliable destination. We hope the hotel management reflects on this matter and takes concrete steps to improve guest safety, staff accountability, and responsiveness to serious concerns.

Under the Ritz-Carlton group, this property is massive and huge. All about great services, amazing staffs, 27 hole golf course, big event spaces, 2 outdoor pools, 1 indoor pool, spa/steam/sauna/jacuzzi/beauty/gym, great trekking spot around the property. I had a junior suite with a living around and balcony. The weather was cooler in October, but it was still sunny at some days. There is nothing to complain about the property. It is just far for everything, I got ubereat to get my groceries or food if I need to. Beautiful Sintra city. Overall, it was a great retreat away from the bustling city.

I booked Penha Longa to celebrate my wife's birthday. We enjoyed 6 nights at this amazing property. We had a junior suite with a resort view and it was stunning. The room had an amazing super king bed, separate living area and a lovely balcony with views over the golf course and hills. Andreia the guest relations manager did an amazing job arranging surprises for my wife prior to our arrival. Andreia helped arrange all aspects of our trip and linked in with the spa, restaurants and concierge to ensure everything was organised. The restaurants at the hotel are stunning with Lab and Midori both having a Michelin star. Lab was fabulous , stunning food paired with some amazing wines. Midori is Portugals only Japanese restaurant with a Michelin star and you certainly understand why it has this accolade. Stunning combinations of Japanese and Portuguese flavours, Eveline the sommelier in Midori was a standout. Spices and Arola are also fabulous restaurants with a great selection of food and drink accompanied by wonderful staff. My wife enjoyed a couple of spa treatments and spoke very highly about her experience. The property itself is set in amazing grounds with an amazing golf course. The monastery is a muct visit. All the staff we encountered were amazing with Alexandra in the breakfast restaurant , Marta Concierge, Vasu Gym/pool and Laura Spice/Midori being standouts. The hotel is only 30 minutes from Lisbon and 15 minutes from Sintra and Cascais. We loved our stay and will definitely be back.
