This is a classic Victorian Hotel. No expense was spared in its construction. Lovely décor and excellent staff and food with dinner music. Top London Standards on the South Devon Coast. and well maintained.

Fabulous hotel, beautifully decorated with stunning view over Sidmouth. Close to town and beach. Excellent customer service. Only disappointment was our bedroom was over kitchens/service area and woken up early when fans kicked in and rubbish bins emptied. Do not let this spoil your stay, just avoid these rooms, if possible.

We were given room 207, which had an excellent sea view. Plenty of space, ample storage, a comfortable huge bed, and because we had booked a Brend offer, we had flowers, a big bowl of fruit, and not one, but two boxes of chocolates. The bathroom was modern, with again plenty or storage for toiletries. There is a big area in the lounge and sun lounge just to sit and read, or to simply admire the view. If you wish, it is possible to eat your way through five courses of food at dinner, followed by coffee and more chocolates. Only down side was that some of the meat could have either had a steak knife provided, or a bit more cooking. Breakfast again has a big choice, with your own selection of hot food cooked to order. All the staff help with the serving and taking of orders at meal times, including the Hotel Manger. Good to have a lift into the town in the Rolls. Porter, door staff, all helpful. Perhaps need a bit more training of the booking and reception staff, but overall a very good break for us.

Took my wife to the hotel just for a treat as we only live a short distance away was told that the dress regulations had been relaxed wanted to take her in the a la carte restaurant as she was all dressed up only to find out I couldn’t get in because I was in tea shirt I was extremely annoyed if we had been told we needed to wear a shirt and tie I would of brought one for my wife too enjoy the evening even more everything else was great was a good boy just to please my wife

Excellent location. Adequate sized rooms with comfy beds and good en suites. Some have lovely sea views Very good breakfasts with truly excellent restaurant dinners with comprehensive wine list. Superb and discrete service from all the staff.

Great staff but small dinner portions compared to sister hotel next door ( The Belmont). Could not fault the staff very accommodating.
