This was our first time staying at a Barceló property and we loved every minute of it. The resort grounds were very clean, as were the rooms. The buffet for breakfast and lunch had variety. The specialty restaurants were good.but not our favorite compared to other resort chains. The beach is beautiful, a bit shelly but nothing horrible. No problem getting chairs at the pools. All in all we had a fantastic time.

From the moment we arrived at Barceló Maya Colonial, we felt welcomed and cared for. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and efficient—nothing was too much trouble. Their warm smiles and helpfulness really made our stay special. The food was outstanding! Every meal offered an amazing variety, from fresh local dishes to international favourites, and everything was bursting with flavour. The buffet was excellent, and the à la carte restaurants were an absolute treat. Entertainment was great fun, with something for everyone—lively evening shows, music, and activities during the day if you wanted them, but also plenty of space to just relax. And the beach… absolutely dreamy. Soft white sand, crystal-clear turquoise water, and enough loungers for everyone. It’s the kind of place you picture when you think of a tropical escape. We left feeling relaxed, happy, and already planning our return. If you’re looking for a mix of luxury, fun, and pure Caribbean beauty, this is the place.

This resort was my second all-inclusive resort during our holiday in Mexico. I was super happy with the resort. At night, we enjoyed the animation team performance. They have several restaurants to book for dinner, but buffet restaurant was always open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 1. Food I did not have many complaints about the buffet restaurant. It has a great variety in food. I am not a picky eater. The fruits were fresh and tasty. 2. Room The room was outdated, but it was still ok for us. We have everything inside our room. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The bathroom is also spacious. The hot water and amenities were there for us. 3. Swimming pool The swimming pool was amazingly clean and also huge in size. 4. Beach The beach was super amazing. The water, the wind, and the sun were perfect! I loved it so much.

The best family friendly resort in Riviera Maya. Will definitely recommend specifically Azucena Herrera was so kind and welcoming with drinks at the pool also Guadalupa en someone that help me at the lobby bar with a name I can't pronounce with H so so kind ans friendly. Love the atmosphere and sooo much space to lay around and activities. Also 6 different holtels with in that you can roam and catch some activities.

Everything was great. The only downside was the temperature of the pool. Absolutely freezing. I’m a pool person and you couldn’t even enjoy it.

We had a great time at the resort! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The kids especially loved the Kids Club — huge thanks to all the wonderful girls who worked there and made it so fun for them. It was a fantastic family vacation, and we’d definitely come back! Be prepared to walk - a lot! The property is large but never seemed over crowded. The pools are huge and beautiful, you don't run into people. There are plenty of lounge chairs at both the beach and poolside. Finding a nice spot was never a problem. The play area for the kids is so nice and fun. The rooms are clean and spacious. The buffets and specialty restaurants are great! The attached Maya Plaza and Mall are fantastic! You seriously don't need to leave the resort (unless you're going on a tour). There is so much to do to keep the whole family entertained. My only complaint is how expensive a taxi is if you want to go to 5th avenue in Playa Del Carmen. The resort is about 20 minutes away from town and a taxi ride for up to 4 people is $35 US dollars EACH WAY. If you have more than 4 the price jumps to $70 US dollars each way. And side note - sunscreen at the hotel is VERY expensive, along with any type of over-the-counter medication. I saw bottles of sunscreen for as much as $50 US dollars and as cheap as $24. We bought a bottle of caladryl serum for bug bites and a pack of gum. It cost $38 US dollars.

Denali trejo bar Puebla is the best bartender we have met every time we have come to the barcelo maya colonial, she very professional and good hearted and hard working, the barcelo should value staff members like her greatly, we look forward to seeing her again on our next vacation.
