We stayed in a sea view room for three nights in April. The room was lovely with lots of little extras like robes and slippers, chocolate, biscuits, a coffee pod machine and a kettle, bottled water, a fridge and L’Occitane bathroom products. Staff were friendly and the breakfast was really nice. We got coupons for free drinks in the bar instead of having room cleaning which was nice- we didn’t need the room cleaned for such a short trip. We were surprised how easy it was to find parking right outside the hotel. We parked the car and explored St Andrews on foot. The weather was kind to us so we walked a lot. One day we drove to Leuchars and got the train into Edinburgh which was a very pleasant train journey partly along the coast line. I saw seals sitting on a rock from the train window which really made me smile. Highly recommend this hotel if you want to visit St Andrews.

This hotel is one of the most welcoming hotels ever, the food is amazing, the staff are amazing, the cocktails are AMAZING! We upgraded to a Sea View and I HIGHLY recommend paying to upgrade if you can. If you are getting oysters get the oyster Bloody Mary too!! It was a special occasion and they made it so special for us.

We stayed in Hotel du Vin when visiting St Andrews for the night. The hotel itself has a lot going for it. Lovely location, nice interior, lovely service and a very nice room. The problem: the bed was a bit short, but mainly significantly too hard, leading to a bad night sleep. A good bed would turn this into 5 stars.

We had 4 night here, Thursday to Monday, in the blue room with a view over West Sands and the sea. We were at a conference on the Friday at the university, and then free to explore for a couple of days. The young (to us) hotel staff were universally pleasant, smiley and helpful. We had dinner in the first two nights and then ate out at lunch and brought back a room picnic for the second two nights. Honestly, we couldn’t fault anything with both the hotel and St Andrews. We booked a couple of hours walking tour so learned a little of the history of the town. Everything was walkable and we both enjoyed mooching about and even did a little shopping. I didn’t know you could walk the Old Course on a Sunday (no golf being played) and for a golf nut (non-playing now) that was just the business, we chatted to some very friendly dogs and their owners as we walked the hallowed turf, and we then walked back along the Chariots of Fire beach. 16000 steps for old people and we loved it. Even the Scotsrail people were lovely when we had to negotiate travel plans home that were disrupted by a landslide on our route. For a busy tourist town we didn’t meet anyone who was less than 100% hospitable. Hats off to all! We will be back.

Got treated to a night away at the Hotel Du Vin in St Andrews. What a breath of fresh air. I never encountered a single member of staff that wasn’t pleasant and helpful. By far the best was Tom in the restaurant. Great advice on meal choices. Service that you really don’t get everywhere. I’d thoroughly recommend a visit. Standard of cleanliness and comfort were excellent.
