The Steamboat Grand

We had seen this resort on the RCI website, but it never had an opening when we could go - until this year! It was hard to research layouts of the units, even on their own website, so we went in a little blind and nervous getting a two bedroom unit with two parents and three kids (and not wanting to sleep anyone in the living area). We were pleasantly surprised though - our unit consisted of a main room with kitchen, dining, living area with a fold out sofa and two twin size day beds, a fireplace, and a full bathroom; a bedroom with two queen size beds and another full bathroom; and a master bedroom with a king size bed, fireplace, balcony, and another full bathroom with a two person jacuzzi tub. The master bedroom was a little tight on space, but the other rooms made up for it. There were shampoo, conditioner and body wash dispensers in all the showers, and lotion and hand soap on all the bathroom counters. There were dishwasher tabs, liquid dish soap, a sponge, coffee pods, and hot chocolate in the kitchen. It was also stocked with your usual cookware and dishes. The bonus was a crockpot, so we bought a roast and set it to cook while we were out on a day long activity and came back to supper ready (you could smell it all the way down the hall)! Housekeeping knocked on our door around 8:30 am the first morning wanting to come in and clean and make beds, so we ended up putting the privacy door hangers out the rest of the trip. They still charged us the $290 housekeeping fee, even though we were there the full week. At checkout when I complained about being charged for housekeeping when we didn't even use the daily service, they said they couldn't do anything with that, but they did refund the $25 a day parking fees. The pool area was smaller than it seemed in the pictures online, but still nice. They had two hot tubs, one was supposed to be 18+ only, but that wasn't enforced by staff or other parents, and only designated by a small tile in the floor in front of its entrance steps. The staff were good about keeping pool towels stocked. They had a poolside bistro with food that wasn’t overly expensive. The resort offers free shuttle service during the day to downtown areas, so we took advantage of that a number of times. The city of Steamboat Springs also offers free bus service in the area, so you can use that for earlier morning or later night trips.

Awesome experience, all the way from check in to check out, pool and hot tub, bistro, dinner, personal, absolutely everything will be back soon, this property is amazing

I was really surprised that parking was not free. Twenty five dollars a day is ridiculous, especially with what we paid for the room. The couches were not comfortable either. I understand trying to get furniture that would be easy to keep clean, but i felt like it was outdoor furniture. Not sure if we would stay again.

Excellent The hotel is right at the base of the mountain so ease of access to the resort is right there. Town is only minutes away and there are plenty of shuttles to get you around town. The staff here are exceptional. While the building is older, it's clean and comfortable with a hospitable feel.

Loved our stay! Loved it!! Accommodations were wonderful. Very comfortable beds. Workout facility, sauna, steam room, and pools were great. Lots of hiking and mountain biking in the area during the offseason.
