Boschendal Estates must rank as one of THE places to stay in the Stellenbosch area. Surrounded by mountains on one side and rolling meadows on the other, the scenery is spectacular, and the location is ideal for visiting vineyards in the region. The Retreat Cottages where we stayed were charming and the staff at both the Deli and Werf restaurants were most helpful. Special mention for Marylise who went out of her way to accommodate our requirements and Peter our young hiking trail guide who persisted despite a severe allergy attack. Great breakfast at the Werf too!

It was a great hotel to stay in. Appreciate the staff and was well located. Came for one night. Breakfast was great. Haha TV options could be better and wifi strength is not the best. But you not there for that stuff.

We spent two nights at Boschendal and were unfortunately very disappointed. The farm is situated on beautiful grounds, and the view is breathtaking. The food was attractively presented, but unfortunately not very tasty. There were only a few vegan options, and the portions were quite small. The farm offers a shuttle service for meals, but unfortunately, this wasn't reliable. On our departure day, we drove to the breakfast restaurant ourselves. Since we had to wait an hour and fifteen minutes for our breakfast and the bill didn't arrive for us to sign, it wasn't until about 9:45 a.m. that we returned to our cottage. As checkout was supposed to be by 10:00 a.m., we were unfortunately running short on time. We really liked the accommodation, despite the mold in the shower. We would have liked more shaded areas by the pool. All in all, we have enjoyed far better accommodations at lower prices and much better restaurants in South Africa.

Absolutely spectacular — our favorite stay in South Africa!
This has been by far the most spectacular place we stayed during our trip to South Africa. The customer service was incredible — every member of the team at Boschendal Farms made us feel so welcome.
Our kids loved the day camps at the Tree House. Andrea, the kids’ club director, is phenomenal. Our children couldn’t wait to go back each day! She taught them about farming, composting, how to pick fruit, and even led them on hikes. They had cooking lessons, horse riding, and so many hands-on experiences.
We couldn’t have asked for a better family experience. Huge thanks to the entire Boschendal team — you made this unforgettable!
