The location is at the quiet side if the Stone Town. Due to it is situated inside a small alley, the directions could be quite complicated and we were lost several times to head back to the hotel. Despite being assured that it's safe, we were tapped by few mischievous children when we passed by a school near the hotel. That said, the room and hotel itself was great. We particularly enjoyed the breeze at the open air loft, where we could view the sea and ships from far away. It was indeed relaxing. The historical bed and bath in the room made the experience so unique. The only downside was there was insufficient of hot water for the bath. The breakfast wise was in fact the best we had in Tanzania, not to mention the impeccable hospitality provided by the staff there. Special shout out to the helpful staff who assisted us with our luggage during check in and out. Bear in mind on the steep staircase up to the room and inside the room to the loft. It might not be suitable for those who have knee problem, as you literally need to climb up and down everytime to the washroom. Otherwise, it was quite a memorable stay.

This historic hotel exudes the ancient charm of Zanzibar. It's the perfect place to stay in the heart of Stone Town, near the historic Darajani Market and Forodani Gardens. Cleanliness, friendly, and helpful staff.

We really enjoyed staying here and would definitely return. Everyone was so friendly. We were in the Rosewood room, I think next time I would like to be overlooking the street with a balcony. Our room was s little on the small size but we managed for 3 nights. I did not have the right adaptor for charging my phone, but a very kind staff member supplied me with one within minutes. The shower was a bit small and difficult to keep the water from going all over the floor ! The bed was amazing, I almost needed a leg up to get in ! Breakfast was very good, and plenty of choice. It is only a few minutes walk from 2 of our favourite restaurants, Emmerson Secret Garden and Emmerson rooftop. Also Zanzibar Coffee House and the market.

Beautiful hotel with Arabian features. The hotel is well situated near the port, markets and Forodhani Gardens. Very good breakfast.
