We had a wonderful stay at the El Monte Sagrado hotel. We had mistakenly booked an accessible room, and wanted a tub in our room. Amy at the front desk was extremely helpful, and switched us into another room, brought us new keys and escorted us to a room with a wonderful tub. We were there on the last night of our honeymoon, and the staff added wonderful little perks and touches to make our honeymoon extra special. When it started raining, the valet staff had complimentary umbrellas on hand for our trip into town. In short, The El Monte Sagrado is a wonderful place with great service!

Very beautiful property. They have an onsite resturant, bar, spa, pool, shuttle service, and this library area. The experience is luxurious. Our room was spacious, a top floor balcony, fireplace, and jacuzzi tub. My only suggestion is check out room 525’s bathroom barn doors because you cannot close both the doors without it swinging open the jacuzzi tub’s barn doors. Other than that, the entire property is amazing and my family already wants to go back!

I'm not one to complain. In fact, this is my first review. I had a lovely stay. Beautiful property. The staff is first rate...they were also empathetic to my questioning of.... The dead fish floating in the tank. Sure, fish die, but night 2 - another dead fish. Why? Night 3 - another dead fish in the tank. A child cried to his Mother -"Mommy, Mommy! That fish isn't swimming!" The tank is murky and clearly not cared for, the fish gray and listless, but places like this should pride themselves on the smallest details. It's not welcoming to be greeted by dead fish prior to having a meal. Y'all need to do a bit better. Seriously - we get pet fish to care for as small children. We've been coming to EMS for over a decade. For many years it was our favorite hotel and we would go every year. We know that something changed with management or ownership that caused problems with the EMS. I keep reading the reviews hoping things would get better, and so we booked it with caution. I'm happy to report our stay was excellent. Let's go one area at a time 1. Service- We had a few issues and need help from the staff. They crushed it and took care of our problems promptly. It's the level of service we had come to expect in the 2010s. 2. Room- Clean, no dust etc (we had a dusty room two years ago). Some of the furniture is old. But I honestly could care less. If the coffee table has scratches on it that does not impact my enjoyment of the hotel. I don't understand the obsession with the furniture in some of the negative reviews. I did not have that experience. The bed was great, comfortable, and clean. 3. Grounds- EMS is one of the most beautiful resorts in Taos. The grounds are immaculate and if need something to do walking the grounds is a great way to spend time. 4. Location- Close to downtown. You could walk if you had to, but the hotel car is there. 5. Valet- Really helpful, fast and friendly. Final Takeaway- There is a lot of hate in the recent TA reviews for EMS. We had a less than stellar experience a few years ago, but this stay was everything we excepted and I am happy to report I think El Monte is close, very close, to being at its best.

This was our first experience at this hotel and it did not disappoint! If you’re looking for quaint and quiet and close to the Plaza this is your place! They offer so many different types of rooms and the grounds are so beautiful! We stayed in the Bali suite which had a private courtyard and the best rain shower I’ve ever experienced! It’s only valet parking here but they offer a free shuttle to town and any place within 3 miles of the hotel. We definitely utilized the shuttle but we also walked back from town one day and it was only an 11 minute walk with a sidewalk all the way down. This hotel is a must stay if you’re heading to Taos!

Been going here for years. Always a Great Time! But, we returned to our familiar Suite. (Stain) Spain Global. Filthy, stained sofa, and No support. Couldn't give away at a garage sale, not even to a Frat House! Other items that needed tossing were the wooden blind, burned-out light bulbs and the mattress in the main bedroom. We slept in the secondary bedroom to get a good night's sleep. Still woke up sore. All this adds up to NEGLECT, and poor management!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was greeted by Christine who had already called me five minutes before to find out if I was lost. I was. But when I arrived she walked me to the locker room, assigned me my locker, and gave me my robe and sandals. When I got out to meet my masseuse, Sandy was there waiting for me in the lobby. She had a big smile and a big greeting. Sandy introduced herself and shook my hand. She gave me the best massage I’ve ever had in my whole entire life. I’m not saying I’m a spa connoisseur, but I’m 62 and I’ve had my fair share of massages. Sandy gave me a deep tissue massage that changed my life. I walked out of there the most relaxed and loose I felt in a really long time. Sandy said she used to do sports therapy and she has some tricks around really getting into the muscles and loosening things up. Then I went into the steam room, took a long shower, slathered myself with Focus body and hair serum, and Christine met me back at the receptionist desk. We ended up having a lovely conversation. For me the spa experience isn’t just about the massage, it’s about feeling welcomed into the space. Sandy and Christine did a heck of a job from their hearts. THANK YOU!

Nestled among a beautiful natural setting with trees, squirrels, and a raccoon or two, everything about this property added to a peaceful and wonderful stay! Our king room was on the first floor, which opened out into a serene courtyard but was tucked into the trees, making it perfect for a private morning cup of coffee outside. The fireplace in the room was a delightful added touch, providing warmth and additional ambiance to the room. Our only disappointment was that the water pressure in the shower was a little weak. The real stars of El Monte Sagrado are the staff and the location. Every staff member we encountered made a concerted effort to ensure both an enjoyable stay at their property and a successful initial visit to Taos. The location is within a 10-minute walk along a paved sidewalk to reach shopping and dining. If we didn’t want to walk, they also had a shuttle available to take us and pick us up anywhere within a 3-mile radius. We were only there for two nights and didn't have the chance to take advantage of many of the amenities, such as the pool or spa, but they too seemed to share the calming nature of the property.
