Mt Mulligan Lodge

Beyond amazing with exceptional young staff, wonderful food and accommodation in an iconic outback setting with all the bells and whistles but no pretension. Everything was perfect. Truly.

The design and finish of the Lodge and accommodation buildings, and the quality and variety of the food and drinks, are outstanding, but the most remarkable aspect of our stay was the enthusiasm of the staff, from the lodge staff to the service staff to the guides - although they must all have done what they did for us many, many times before each interaction was as if we were the first guests. A memorable experience enhanced by the setting of the magnificent mountain cliffs.

Truly the most luxurious escape. After being greeted upon arrival to the lodge with champagne and lovely refreshing towels, the tone was set for a memorable experience which did not fault once. The staff were all incredible friendly and helpful; and did I mention the food! We still dream about our stay and eagerly hunger to return to one of the most magical places on Earth.

Wow! This was an amazing experience in the Outback. Rooms are the perfect luxury yet feels “right at home” in this rural outback outpost. Idyllic grounds. Great architecture and design. Delicious and sophisticated meals. And a general feeling of calm and luxury. And the staff is attentive and wonderful. Highly recommend this property for a relaxed, luxurious outdoorsy holiday!

Went out to the Lodge under our own steam from Cairns, lobbing in at about 2pm and greeted with a smile and champagne on arrival... This set the tone of our 3 night stay! Told we were upgraded to a luxury room and went off to look in and it was as the pic shows: 5 star luxury. For the next few days and nights we were served food and drink and taken on informative and historic tours of the gold mine, old coal mining town and witnessed a muster in action. The service - there is a self-serve bar of beer, wine and spirits, get at any time you want, plus the room mini bar is always fully stocked and refreshed with some favourites. Each mealtime is a four or five course belly filling delight (check pics) and we couldn't wait to see what was served up next. The staff are awesome and Dan, (we reckon he is Hugh Grant's son), Kiah, Phoebe, James, Yannick, Gianni, Tim, Neve (or Niamh), and many more made it the friendliest place, even putting up with Gareth's Lodge goss. On our last night, there were only 3 other couples at dinnertime and we all sat together and had drinks and dinner, a fun night as if with friends back home. The relaxation you get from all the little things the staff do (e.g. the notes behind the bar about likes and requirements), the set menu and provided drinks, and the isolation of the Lodge is a tonic for the weary and stressed. We have noted there other Lodge stays similar and will definitely be exploring them in future!

OMG This place is just amazingly good. We had 5 nights of pure bliss. Thank you so much Naeve, Tim, Yannik, Lau, Maddie from Maine, James etc etc. The food was outstanding, the day excursions fascinating and the general atmosphere sublime. Hard to get to…..but worth the effort.
