A beautiful oasis from the hustle and bustle from central Galle. This accommodation is stunningly presented with attention to every detail. The rooms and grounds are immaculate with everything you might need thought about from fresh plump towels at the pool, an amenity box in room and some delicious ginger biscuits, great indoor and outdoor seating, insect repellent plugins and so much more. Service levels are high across the board in all areas, the food and beverage offerings are some of the best I've had in Sri Lanka. A warm and hospitable place, hosted by the charming Henrietta who is backed up by a highly skilled and attentive team.

I've chosen to stay at Why House on many occasions and as usual it didn't dispoint. A beautiful property that is so well run. Lots of attention to detail from the lovely linen, great food, wide array of drinks and glorious gardens. Henrietta and her well oiled team provide outstanding service with beautiful smiles.

What a wonderful hotel the kitchen staff produce excellent food, the waiter service is polite and efficient, the rooms and general ambience of the hotel are delightful and Henrietta enhances the whole experience.

Henny is amazing, who doesn’t love a daschund to welcome you, monkeys in the trees and an utterly beguiling and charming escape from the wider world. The food was incredible, the bar supremely well stocked and every room both luxurious, different and personal. One of the lost beautiful pools and aqua aerobics is surprisingly fun (and chatty) followed by a very sociable breakfast from a unique concept menu appreciated by the whole family. Desperate to return perhaps for the artist retreat.

What can I say. Stayed for 5 nights and had the most amazing time. Room was perfect. We had our 18 year old daughter who had the mezzanine which was a separate room with her own bathroom and completely separate from our room. Swimming pool is beautiful and there’s also a great mini gym which is perfect. Breakfast was perfect but it was the evening meals that really showed off the chefs talents. Giant prawns, perfectly balanced curries and probably the best tuna I’ve ever had. Staff were super friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Our host Henrietta was amazing, always on hand to suggest an excursion. Henrietta and her team reminded me of why I enjoyed my 30 odd years in hospitality. Have to also mention the four legged star of the show who is under the impression that she is in charge of Why House! Don’t stay for 2 nights. Stay for at least 5. Relax by the pool, visit Galle, go on a safari and see a tea plantation. You will arrive a stranger and leave as one of the family.

It’s a beautiful property and my deluxe room was exceptional. The service was great and everyone working there was very friendly. The food was all absolutely delicious and it felt like nothing was too much trouble for the people working there. I felt very well looked after and my room was amazing.

We had a wonderful stay at Why House which we couldn’t fault. Henrietta was a wonderful host, made us feel right at home and had wonderful recommendations. The food and service from Muthu and the team was exceptional. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the gardens and pool are lovely to relax in - we also joined in with aqua aerobics which was great fun and enjoyed watching the monkeys in the trees around the pool. We hope to return one day and would definitely recommend both the hotel and the restaurant to anyone visiting the area.
