Having just returned from trip to Europe, we felt immediately transported back with the serene Bavarian architecture; soft white arches contrasting beautifully with dark wood accents and Alpine furniture. The spacious bathroom, with its heated marble floors, double sinks and oversized jacuzzi tub, was a dream after a long day. Even the bright hallways charmed us with their curved, troweled walls and classic Bavarian motifs. Every detail, down to the crisp linens and cloud-like pillows invited rest and comfort. After a fabulous evening of dining with our friends who we met in Italy, we slept in, waking up absolutely ravenous. Downstairs at Ludwig’s, our favorite sunlit breakfast room ensconced in glass windows, we savored our breakfast of Eggs Benedict paired with rich Lavazza coffee before slipping back into the hot tub for one more indulgent soak. October might just be the perfect time to visit Vail; peaceful, golden, and unhurried. Experiencing “the other ski resort” without the crowds was a rare treat. The air was filled with the earthy scent of wet leaves and the faint smoke of wood-burning fireplaces, and for a moment, I was transported back to those early ski-bum days when I used to ski the bowls of Vail. A time when life was about how hard you could ski and how gracefully you could stumble home in your boots. I reminisced… just enough for Wade to handle.

my favorite hotel in the world! we go every year for my birthday in October and it is so special. service is always amazing, the staff are some of the nicest people you will meet. rooms are cozy and clean. food is excellent. we will continue this tradition forever! plus we got ENGAGED this year near the river at the hotel. thank you!

I just had my wedding at the Sonnenalp this last weekend. I have always been smitten with this hotel but the way they surpassed my expectations over these last nine months of planning as well as the weekend itself has permanently embedded this place in my heart. From top to bottom, the staff was exceptional. Helpful, friendly, professional, and warm. The facilities are always top notch while remaining true to the original charm of the place. They worked hard to accommodate my wedding wishlist and the execution of the event was exceptional. I am so so very grateful.

My husband and I recently had our wedding at the Sonnenalp hotel. We had the most amazing experience there and would recommend to anyone looking to have a wedding in the mountains. The staff was an absolute pleasure to work with and the coordination team including Maggie Corrigan and Kasha Dunne made the planning process and true joy and an absolute breeze! This hotel has been a favorite for a very long time but having our event there with our wonderful experience truly made it our favorite for life!

Great hotel with 5-star service throughout. Comfortable beds. Rooms with fireplace. The breakfast buffet is excellent. Feels like you are in a fine European hotel, not an American hotel chain. Sonnenalp is by far the best hotel in Vail.
