The best service I have ever experienced in a hotel, better than a lot of ultra-luxury hotels I have stayed at. The hardware in the room is slightly dated (but mostly functional) but the room is very cozy. The restaurant is amazing. I feel like ordering in-room dining for every meal. Just the air-conditioner is quite noisy due to its age.

Well located with a bubbly staff, the Loden is a boutique experience but not overly comfortable. The room was adequate and spotlessly clean. Very comfortable bed. The bathroom is a mix of sliding wood and glass panels to create the small space. The single sink is exceptionally small. The shower does not have a safety grab bar and we were supplied with one towel /face cloth each. There is a “tub” but not sure how anyone would get in or out of it. No coffee in room but an elaborate espresso machine is on the small counter space. In all, we juggled and made it work…but probably would not return .

As a frequent traveller who stays in 5-star hotels around the world roughly every eight weeks, I tend to rely heavily on Tripadvisor when making my booking decisions. The Loden’s exceptional reviews were a major reason I chose it for this stay. I normally submit feedback only after checkout and directly to the hotel, but I felt compelled to share some interim thoughts given the contrast between my expectations and my experience so far. Despite the many glowing comments about the hotel’s outstanding service, I have yet to encounter anything close to what others have described. There is nothing personalised (for me). At this stage, I would be genuinely surprised if any member of staff knew my name, or even that I’m staying here. While I do occasionally receive a polite smile if eye contact is unavoidably made by staff, I haven’t experienced the personalised, attentive service that seems to be mentioned in almost every review. Check-in, for instance, was efficient but very transactional. Beyond taking payment, there was little explanation about the hotel or its facilities. A simple overview, such as the location and opening hours of the gym would have been appreciated, especially considering the gym is one of the hotel’s few amenities. The room itself has been a mixed experience. The coffee machine appears to be a relic from another era. Large, dated, and not particularly inviting to use. While this isn’t a major issue with so many great cafés nearby, it’s still an unexpected detail in a hotel with a 5-star rating. More problematic is the heating system, which is both loud and difficult to regulate. It sounds more like a building-wide industrial unit than an in-room climate control system. The choice seems to be either enduring the noise or feeling uncomfortably cold, and this has made it difficult to get a proper night’s sleep—despite the bed itself being very comfortable. The bathroom experience also got off to a rocky start. On my first night, the shower reached only a lukewarm temperature at best, leaning more towards cold. This appears to have improved slightly over the last 24 hours, so I’m hopeful it was a temporary issue, but hot water is a basic expectation at any hotel, let alone one positioning itself at this level. TV lost signal the other evening. I called reception to check if it was or a generic issue. They said they would check and call back. 36 hours later - I have not heard back. But the problem fixed itself. I’ll update this review before checking out, but these are the observations currently on my mind. Given how frequently other guests highlight the hotel’s personal touches and guest-focused service, I’m beginning to assume that perhaps my experience is an exception, or the ‘face doesn’t fit’ and simply not a priority for the team during this stay. To give credit where it’s due - the location is fantastic and the overall hotel is fine. But this is not a 5 star hotel experience and not comparable to a ‘true 5 st

I came to Vancouver for a much needed reset and to get away from the stress of living in the US. I found The Loden Hotel on a travel blog and I am beyond grateful I did. As their motto says “ Central. Quiet. Beautiful.” I would add exceptionally professional and warm staff, especially Stanislav at the front desk, superior comfortable rooms and an overall feeling of staying at a place where people want to take care of you. I came home refreshed, relaxed and completely in love with Vancouver. So much so that I’ve already booked my next stay in March 2026! Thank Loden Team!

From the first time my husband and I stayed at the Loden in 2021, we knew we had found a home away from home. The Loden perfectly balances comfort and luxury, but the service is exceptional. From the Vice President, Ms. Irina to the managers David, Stanislav, and Marie—who feel like cherished friends—to the front-end staff, Samual, Caroline, Eileen, and Shane who quickly become new friends, every interaction with them make us feel like genuine VIPs. We’ve had the pleasure and privilege to stay in all their room types over the years, and have loved each one. Each suite provides the most comfy beds and pillows, perfect lighting, in-room snacks and beverages (something you just don't see anymore in most hotels) and soaker tubs—a personal favorite! We also love the floor-to-ceiling windows that provide fantastic views, the cozy robes (we spend a lot of time in them), and the in-room Nespresso machine with real cream. They’ve even added a high-end Nespresso machine in the lobby, another special touch. Oh, and another notable feature is the Dyson hairdryer in every room—a luxury I haven't seen in other hotels. But what really sets the Loden apart, though, are the other personal touches. We always receive a handwritten note from Ms. Irina, along with a welcome gift. The turndown service (if you want one) is another wonderful detail, including lemon water and chocolates. Not to mention the genuine, warm welcomes and smiles you consistently receive from every staff member you encounter, including the housekeeping staff. The adjoining restaurant, Tableau Bistro, also consistently provides five star service and food, whether you dine in or order room service. During this last stay, we ordered room service 2x per day, and were never disappointed. If you are a burger lover, like my husband, you must try their burger with the Aujus! Lastly, the location! You really can't beat it. Whether you want to walk along the waterfront or take a stroll down Robson street for some shopping, you are literally just minutes away in either direction, on foot. My husband and I can't gush enough about this hotel and its superb staff. We recommend it to everyone we know. The Loden is truly in a league of its own, and in our eyes is a 5 star +++ hotel, that goes, beyond, beyond!
