The Duff Green Mansion

What a wonderful weekend. The house tour was wonderful as was the breakfast. We will certainly stay again the next time we are down in the Vicksburg area.

Initially there was a mistake with my reservation thru a booking site. My fault. I booked two consecutive days instead of a Wed and Sat night stay. The booking site was not helpful at all. A call directly to the Duff Green had it resolved including a confirmation email and a call from the owner We made late arrival both nights, were greeted by the host and every last detail was as expected. The rooms were clean, bedding that you could balance a quarter on, towels at the ready and HOT water. The neighborhood and the property felt safe and included with ample parking. The host was very personable and gracious and the staff genuinely attentive and detail oriented. Breakfast was on point and the house tour afterwards was informative and presented in a confident and engaging manner. Our stay on the return trip was even more impressive I can 100% recommend the Duff Green Thank you for a wonderful experience.

We stayed here 25 years ago and loved it. We stayed here two nights ago and it was even better New owners are carefully improving the Mansion. Lovely poolside out door area, comfortable porches and nice rooms. Ask for The Seige Room. Breakfast was leisurely and excellent.

My husband and I stayed at Duff Mansion from 8/26/2025 to 8/29/2025. We were utterly disappointed. It began when Harley texted that no one would be there to greet us due to "world conditions". Seeing the boarded-up doors and windows on nearby buildings, we were concerned. We were never told what she meant. We looked around the grounds. The gardens were overgrown and the pool was filthy. It had dozens of leaves and bugs in it and a thin layer of scum on the water. It was unusable. The patio was pretty but needed care. We entered The Camellia Room and found a thick layer of dust everywhere. Paint spatters were on the furnishings and rugs. A paint can lid had been left on a windowsill. Three windows had cracked panes. While bringing in our suitcases, the doorknob on the outside door fell off. The outside doors were never locked. (Our room itself did have a secure lock.) I contacted Harley immediately upon arrival. My text messages were met with no apologies. We spoke with Harley the next morning and received excuses. The pool was cleaned a bit (but was still unusable). Her husband was unable to find the paint can lid that was still on the windowsill. Harley explained it was hard to keep good cleaning staff and they didn't "like to be checked up on". She stressed the difficulty of keeping such an old home. However, there are no excuses for everyday dirt and disrepair. The breakfast was poor. The "three course meal" started with a first course of a delicious biscuit, jam and a small ramekin of fruit. On the first morning the second course was a tiny slice of quiche. The next morning, we had a single slice of French toast and sausage. We had two small thin inedible pancakes, scrambled eggs, and crispy bacon on our last morning. They tasted like frozen pancakes from Walmart. Every entree was served with a lettuce leaf and slice of tomato. The final course was always a tiny square of pound cake with a bit of whip cream and a single blueberry. We were rushed away quickly, My husband and I have stayed at numerous bed and breakfast places, and breakfast has always been something special. It was always delicious and homemade. Nothing at Duff Mansion appeared to be made onsite. We stayed because we had prepaid the room. (Harley didn't offer any type of recompense.) The location was close to the downtown area and very convenient. We were simply too worn out to bother moving. We would never recommend Duff Mansion.

Very quaint, clean and close to downtown. Staff was very helpful and kind. Tour of home was very interesting. Our narrator was great.

How was very nice and clean. The staff was very accommodating. We forgot an air pod and they were nice enough to message us so we could get them back.
