My husband and I enjoyed a lovely evening at The Priory. Incredibly attentive, warm and welcoming staff. Nothing too much trouble. The dining experience is exceptional from table presentation to the meal itself and the wines. Lovely comfortable lounge by an open fire for an aperitif before dinner and again for coffee afterwards. It is always a treat to come to the Priory and we could not recommend more highly.

Fantastic Sunday roast, I had the lamb my wife had beef, perfect portion size and tasty trimmings. Decor was lovely and staff were friendly. Pudding delicious especially the caramelised banana element. Be nice to visit in summer and sit out in the beautiful gardens .

The Priory is a complete haven, where you feel you’ve stepped back in time as soon as you drive through the gates. It’s a place to go to stop, breathe and unwind, in a world where we are all programmed to never stop. The unbelievably pretty house is set in stunning gardens, alongside the River Frome, where we watched herons fish, deer graze and boats slip silently by. The rooms are all so beautifully appointed and comfortable. We had a delicious scone and jam with tea, upon arrival, followed by a little potter up the river and around the gardens. After relaxing in our beautiful waterside bedroom we got dressed up for cocktails and canapés by the fire, followed by the most delicious, seasonal dinner in the very elegant dining room. After a great night’s sleep in a seriously comfortable bed, we were offered complimentary yoga and a hearty but healthy breakfast. 24 hours later, we left fully recharged and feeling so relaxed. A huge thank you to the amazing staff, who were impeccably trained and who really understand hospitality with a capital H!

Gorgeous setting and beautiful gardens but the food soooo disappointing. Didn't look forward to our dinners at all. Breakfast was quite nice but service in all respects not first class although charming staff.

A truly amazing afternoon with the icing on the cake… The Priory Cream Tea. Warm welcome by such a pleasant lady on reception. We were early as we’d heard the gardens were something not to miss and given we had a beautiful sunny Spring day we took the opportunity to explore. If visiting don’t miss the gardens, clearly the gardening team take enormous pride in their work. The location is adjacent to the River Frome and is just idyllic. After walking the gardens we sat on the terrace before we tea was served. A great spot to relax and unwind. The afternoon tea was served complimented by refreshing tea. We chose Earl Grey and Assam but lots of choice in the John Turner room. A stunning inglenook fireplace is I expect part of the original building. Finger sandwiches were very fresh, tasty and just a little different. Plain and fruit scones (nicely warm) accompanied with very generous portions of delicious strawberry jam and local clotted cream plus a delicious selection of patisserie and an Eton mess treat. Our waiting staff, a young gentleman and lady were courteous, kind and acknowledged we were celebrating a combination birthday and Wedding anniversary. Thank you! What an amazing treat it was to visit such a stunning location, a great hospitality team and superb culinary expertise. Thank you so much for a wonderful visit. We will definitely return and cannot recommend highly enough.

There is much to commend – the surroundings, excellent dining room, friendly service and an excellent pianist in the lounge. However the food, which would be looking forward to was somewhat disappointing. For example my soufflé was tasty but it had been either placed under a grill or an oven and had more or less melted and bore little resemblance to a soufflé. We ate on a very busy night when there was also a private party in a separate room and I felt that at times the staff were rather stretched although they worked very hard and were attentive throughout

My husband and I went to The Priory for the first time for lunch today and we had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We were waited on by Christian who was efficient and charming, nothing was too much trouble. The Priory itself was so full of character and history, and the Garden Room was a delightful addition . We loved it and will definitely recommend it.

Went for a celebration lunch for four and service and food were exceptional. Cocktails of highest standard and particular thanks to Cristian and Emily for the service. Pricey but worth every penny for proper service, great ambience and top class food.
