Some games are very well taken care of while others, like darts, are pretty ruined already. They also have a bar area with drinks and snacks that can be ordered through a QR code on each table! There are not many food options, mostly small things like popcorn chicken, onion rings, and fries; they have much more options for drinks, ranging from several beers to cocktails! LaoWaiTan is a fantastic place to spend an evening exploring and eating! The cobbled streets and small alleyways are packed full of bars, restaurants and shops. There is something for everyone! We spent 3 hours walking the small streets and tried snacks from three different restaurants. You will find Irish pubs, a steakhouse, Chinese noodle shops and clubs. There are several larger than life painted murals and hundreds of red lanterns! LaoWaiTan is within walking distance of the Old Bund area of Ningbo so you can see both areas in one visit! Cicheng - 1200 years of history 🇨🇳
When I heard about this place I didn’t have any expectations but after arrival J was so surprised about its beauty that we decided to overnight here. Basically most of the shops, restaurants, coffee shops are on Minquan Street (photo 10&13). At one end there is a small lake (photo 2&3) which was so romantic at sunset. You can also hike around it. At night there is a very special atmosphere when all the red lanterns are illuminated and in the trees there are poems written. Cicheng is a place to immerse into Chinese culture and history. In the park there are the couples dancing in the evening and you feel that the time stands still. Getting There - By subway to Cicheng station then a 10 minutes walk Attractions - Minquan Road Congma River National Customs Cultural Life with rebuilt city wall and gate (photo 5-9) There is also a small museum inside the wall Chinese Herbal Medicine Trade Museum (photo 14) Hotels - Ningbo Cloud Hotel is inside the old town Delight Hotel Lotus Courtyard (photo 19&20) where we stayed. It was opened in 2021 and their service is very good. Food & Restaurants - There is delicious streetfood. Kadilila 卡迪里拉咖啡店 - coffee as an art 🇨🇳
If you come to Ningbo come to Cicheng! By coincidence we found this coffee shop which serves coffee not only because it is their business but also made an art of it. I have been to many many coffee shops but never experienced these kinds of flavors before. The Latte Macchiato was not only decorated by heart but there were also some Gui flowers 桂花 on the top (photo 2). The cold American Coffee had a dried slice of mandarin on top. There is also the chance to try and purchase buckwheat healthy tea (photo) The menu was written on wood (photo 4) and also all the decoration is well chosen and just beautiful. Definitely a must go place to relax and enjoy! One of my favorite Japanese restaurants in Ningbo, which luckily has many branches around China: Tairyo Teppanyaki! This one is located in Tianyi Square, on the fourth floor of the International Shopping Center. If you’re a foodie and enjoy all-you-can-eat restaurants, this is the place to go. Make sure you arrive ✨hungry✨! For ¥228/person (drinks included), you can order from a huge online menu and watch the food be prepared right in front of you, served up by knife-wielding chefs who slice and dice everything from beef and lambchops to cod filets and shrimps! The quality of the dishes is great, very well served and perfectly seasoned every time. If you enjoy places that offer a mix of minimalist, boho, indie, vintage, simple, and cute style - Demohood is the place for you to visit in Ningbo 🤍 It’s a relatively new area, with three main buildings that provide a variety of options to explore: from fancy restaurants to small coffee shops, cat cafés, and even a snowboarding simulator! You can easily spend at least half a day relaxing and going around the different places. Plus, it’s also super ‘instagrammable’, with every corner being a good angle for pictures and portrait shots. Everything around is pretty white, so if you’re going for pics, make sure to wear something that pops! 😉📸 Inside one of the buildings (the middle one is bigger than it looks from the outside), you will find several little shops, each unique in its own way and not the usual shopping mall brands. There are also some artsy places, vintage stores that have some really great stuff with a reasonable price, and a beautiful tattoo/piercing studio. I got my ear pierced at 916 Studio and everything was impeccable. The owner and artist speaks fluent English, has all her certifications and degrees displayed, and maintains a great hygiene of the place itself and the products she uses. The ear piercing was done with a needle, which hurts way less and is much safer than a piercing gun. Everything is top quality! Highly recommend! 🤩👏🏼 The Demohood area aims to be a place to celebrate art and music too, and I’ve heard that people plan on doing small exhibitions and festivals around there. For a short holiday trip, if you want to experience the beauty of mountains and rivers, choose to stay at the 5A-level Xikou Yinfeng Hotel, which is about 2.5h away from Shanghai. The entrance to the resort is a bamboo forest, serene and quiet. Upon checking into the hotel, there is a parking lot P at the entrance, and they also help to deliver luggage to the room. The room is very clean, and opening the balcony door reveals a mountain view. Waking up in the morning, the air is fresh, with the sound of birds and the fragrance of flowers, relaxing and comfortable. Dinner is served in the Chinese restaurant on the first floor, with a very homely cuisine that tastes delicious. The breakfast is also rich, with both Chinese and Western options available, and outside the window is a lakeside fountain, very pleasant. The resort is very large, with a wealth of activities for family fun: ❶ Children's playground: slides, rocking horses, little trucks, and also puzzles, building blocks, and more. ❷ Mini zoo: There is a mini zoo with little rabbits, lambs, ducklings, peacocks, piglets, etc. The zoo has a very forest-like atmosphere, and children can play and run around. ❸ Kayaking: You can take your children to experience kayaking. The lake water is clear, and the experience is particularly good. A small boat floating on the lake is very enjoyable. ❹ Tea brewing by the stove: The hotel also offers tea brewing by the stove. You can reserve a tent canopy and sit by the lake, enjoying a relaxing afternoon. ❺ Bamboo shoot digging: Currently, in spring, there is also bamboo shoot digging activity. Children love this experience, and the bamboo shoots they pull out can be taken home, very fresh. Xikou Yinfeng Resort is really suitable for family trips. The hotel itself is well-equipped, and it is also close to various scenic spots. It is about a ten-minute drive away, where you can play in the water, visit the most beautiful villages, and also explore the ancient streets of the Republic of China era.

Off the beaten path, I found another stunning hiking route, uncovering Ningbo's 'Little Huangguoshu Waterfall', where during the rainy season, the waterfalls along the stream are continuous, and with the new greenery sprouting, it's entering its most beautiful moment. Originally, I was heading to the purple-red Tingxia Lake and Aodi Village, but somehow I turned onto a side road. At the first hairpin turn on the Huxi Line (Ni Jiaqiao, where two or three households live), there is parking available. Follow the cement mountain road all the way to Ni Jia Mountain Village.
