Memories on the Hill: A Stroll Through Albaicín

To the northeast of Granada, on a hill facing the Alhambra Palace, lies a village where time seems to have stood still. Its name is Albaicín. This quaint neighborhood, imbued with the spirit of medieval Islam, is a labyrinth of whitewashed walls, cobblestone streets, flower-adorned balconies, and small gardens. As the morning sunlight gently embraces the houses on the hill, I begin my leisurely walk. The narrow alleys, inaccessible to cars, offer a serene and unhurried atmosphere that only pedestrians can enjoy. Olive tree branches peek over the walls, and the sound of guitar strings drifts out from a window of a nearby house. Occasionally, small plazas appear as if to offer a moment to catch one's breath. Here, locals sip tea or chat with one another. Sitting on a café terrace with a cup of mint tea, I take a break and gaze at the sprawling cityscape of Granada below the hill.
