Casa Vicens : Gaudi’s 1st Masterpiece

There is no denying that visiting the architectural works designed by Antoni Gaudi is on many people's bucket list. On this trip back to Barcelona, we intended to visit another place designed by Gaudi, and that is "Casa Vicens". Casa Vicens is Gaudí's first completed design, completed when Gaudi was 31 years old. It is his first fully designed house and made his name known before becoming famous with Sagrada Família or Casa Batlló. This house was originally designed as a vacation home around 1883 - 1885. It stands out with its design combining Moroccan, Spanish, and Arabic art. It uses green and white ceramic tiles contrasting with red bricks. Later, it was transformed into a house for 3 families by architect Joan Baptista de Martinez in 1925 and has been renovated and extended from the original many times. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005 and was renovated into a museum showcasing Gaudi's architecture and works, which opened to the public at the end of 2017. The interior is decorated in detail in every room, including carved wooden ceilings, walls painted with plant patterns, hand-painted tiles, and a small garden designed by Gaudí, which also has a cafe open for service. Recommended - Must-see photo spots: The front of the building with green and white tile patterns, the wooden staircase hall, the blue living room, and the rooftop terrace. Unfortunately, it was raining on the day we went, so we couldn't take any photos to show you. - It is recommended to come in the morning. There aren't many people, so you can walk around and take photos comfortably (the house is quite small compared to Gaudi's other works). - It takes about 1 hour to walk around.
