It is an ancient wooden temple built in 718 and flourished in the Heian period, 794-1185. It is a pilgrimage route through the Mumyo Bridge along the mountains and Kunisaki Valley, passing Kawanaka Fudo, a Buddha carved on a stone slab in the river.
