Here's a roundup of hotels I stayed at during my trip to Northern Sichuan and Southern Gansu, so you can avoid the bad ones: ✅ Chengdu Chengdu East Huazhu Hotel: As reliable as ever, no disappointments. ¥327/night excluding breakfast, paid an extra ¥49 for breakfast for two. They provided slippers, toothbrushes, and breakfast for my child. Chose this location near Chengdu East Railway Station for easy access to the high-speed train to Jiuzhaigou the next day. ✅ Jiuzhaigou Lichengbieyuan·Four Seasons Manju Hotel: Just 500 meters from Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area, convenient for dining nearby. Booked the Cloud-View Zen King Room at ¥666/night, including breakfast for two (child's breakfast complimentary) and a hot spring soak. Great service—they even offered to upgrade us to a family room, but we stuck with the Zen room as the size was similar. ✅ Ruoergai Ruoergai Zunyue·Ruitian Hotel: Highly recommended! ¥768/night with breakfast for two. Booked a Cozy King Room but got upgraded to a Scenic King Room with stunning grassland views. The 42 sqm room was spacious and had oxygen supply. ✅ Xiahe Langjie Boutique Hotel: A pleasant surprise at ¥642/night. Though the room was compact, the layout was smart. Breakfast was a refined set meal delivered to the room. Located 700+ meters from Labrang Monastery (walkable). No parking lot, but free street parking available. ✅ Xi’an Xi’an Administrative Center Yunduo X Hotel: ¥339/night with breakfast for two (my 123cm-tall daughter’s breakfast was free). Since we had an 8 AM flight the next day, the staff kindly packed three breakfasts for us to pick up at the front desk. Just 300 meters from the subway, making sightseeing easy. Loved the dedicated luggage room and walk-in closet—no more tripping over suitcases! Will definitely stay here again for the value. ❎ Zhagana My Homestay in Zhagana: ¥897/night including breakfast, but the breakfast was disappointingly poor. The view was nice, but the price wasn’t justified. Zhagana homestays are generally overpriced. Located in Dari Village, close to Dari Viewing Platform. ❎ Langmusi Ruoergai Langmusi Grand Hotel: Avoid at all costs! No hot water during the day, barely any water pressure at night, and a morning water outage. The front desk was unhelpful, and the breakfast was awful—yet they charged ¥700/night. The only plus: it’s at the entrance of Gerdi Monastery. ❎ Lanzhou W Huanman Hotel: ¥428/night without breakfast. On Zhangye Road Pedestrian Street, close to the subway. The elevator was filthy, and the room rate dropped after check-in—annoying. Basic toiletries (just toothbrush/paste), and the toilet was dirty. Not worth the price.
