Luoyang|Weekend Hot Spring and Shaolin Temple Parent-Child Two-Day Tour

It's hot spring season again. Friends planning to soak in hot springs can refer to my weekend two-day trip with kids and a dog. Day Kaifeng▶️Luoyang Depart Kaifeng at 10 AM. Arrive in Luoyang at 12:30 PM. First, we went to drink Ma Jianguo Beef Soup. (Personally, I feel it’s not as tasty as Kaifeng’s beef soup, just my personal taste) After the soup, we checked into the hotel. After checking in, we first experienced the hotel’s incense culture. Then, we started with barbecue + coconut chicken and soaked in the hot springs. Day Luoyang▶️Shaolin Temple▶️Kaifeng Slept in naturally. Had breakfast at the hotel (the hotel’s free breakfast was decent). There was a lot left from the coconut chicken prepared the day before. To avoid waste, we continued eating the coconut chicken. After soaking in the hot springs once more, it was just time to check out. We originally planned to visit Longmen Grottoes, but after checking the guide, pets are not allowed, so we decided to return. On the way back, we happened to pass Dengfeng, and on a whim, decided to visit Shaolin Temple. (Yes, Shaolin Temple is pet-friendly and allows entry) We only toured Shaolin Temple without going up the mountain, about two hours. We rented the scenic area’s electric cart for 65 RMB per half hour. Tickets were 80 RMB per person, children under 1.4m free. After visiting Shaolin Temple, we returned to Kaifeng. The hot spring hotel was booked online in advance: Longmen Xiangju Hot Spring Hotel 🏨 After the experience, there were pros and cons. I’ll list them below for your reference: ✅ Pet-friendly ✅ All rooms have a courtyard ✅ Barbecue allowed, and barbecue racks provided for free (food and charcoal must be brought) ✅ Free experience of incense culture + incense making ❌ The hotel is in a relatively remote area, inconvenient for ordering takeout or buying things ❌ The courtyard’s privacy is not very good, separated from the road by a row of plants ❌ The hot spring pools are indoors, which feels a bit stuffy (ps: only the largest two-bedroom rooms have a hot spring pool in the courtyard; other rooms have indoor pools) For barbecue, we bought bamboo skewers, and the beef and lamb vendor at Hanxing Road Market helped skewer them for free. Other vegetables, chicken, snacks, and drinks were all bought in one stop at Fresh Breeze Supermarket in the morning. If you plan to stay at this hot spring hotel, be sure to bring everything you need in advance, as the surrounding area is indeed a bit remote.
