Eger with the most famous Hungarian castle

Eger is a city in Northern Hungary. It is best known for its medieval castle, thermal baths, cathedral, baroque buildings, the northernmost Ottoman minaret, and red wines. The medieval castle is famous because in the autumn of 1552, Captain István Dobó and his handful of soldiers were successful in defending the fortress and northern Hungary from the expanding Turkish Empire. Géza Gárdonyi wrote his novel, "Eclipse of the Crescent Moon" in remembrance of this battle, and his work has been translated into numerous languages. Every Hungarian tries to visit the famous castle at least once in their life. The other famous sites are Dobó square, Eger minaret, Baroque Minorite Church, the Serbian Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas, St Bernard Cistercian Church, Lyceum (Eszterházy College), Turkish Bath, the Archbishop's Palace, the Archbishop's Garden, the Egri Road Beatles Museum. It's always nice to walk around in the city. Szépasszonyvölgy ("The Valley of the Beautiful Woman").
