Tochoji temple | Fukuoka

🗼Tochoji Temple is an old temple in the heart of Fukuoka. It was built in 806 by Kobo Daishi, the founder of the Shingon sect. The highlight of this temple is the “Fukuoka Daibutsu,” the largest seated wooden Buddha statue in Japan, standing 10.8 meters tall. It has beautiful details and a shady atmosphere. Another highlight is the bright red five-story pagoda and the underground walkway that represents the path to enlightenment. When you come to this temple, you must pray for a smooth life, to be free from obstacles, and to pray for health, peace of mind, and to be free from past karma.
