Rural China: Scenery Along the High-Speed Rail (Southeast)

How far can you travel in 7 hours by high-speed rail? And what kind of scenery can you see along the way? Due to weather conditions, my first high-speed rail trip from Shanghai to Guangzhou took about 7.5 hours. Surprisingly, I didn’t feel fatigued—perhaps because of the refreshing views outside the window. The landscape and customs change dramatically over miles; from the water towns of Jiangnan to the heart of Lingnan, the terrain and scenery shift subtly as the train speeds by, evoking awe for the vast land and majestic landscapes. What makes China? It’s this beloved land beneath our feet...
