Soho light luxury Japanese fusion izakaya 🏮

As we enter our birthday month, my best friend keeps asking me out for dinner. This time, he brought 👦🏻👧🏽 to a small shop in Soho. The interior of the store is decorated in a simple Japanese style, with dim lighting and upbeat music, which makes people feel more relaxed; but the background music is a bit noisy. ▪️POTATO SALAD $128 The presentation is very interesting, with crispy fried potato chips paired with cold mashed potatoes; it is actually quite suitable for summer weather, cool and appetizing 👍🏻 Recommended! ▫️OYSTERS $98/piece The oysters were plump and paired with Mozuku, a specialty of Okinawa. There was a little too much yuzu vinegar, so the taste was a bit salty. ▪️BEEF TARTARE $168 My friend strongly recommended this dish. The sauce is rich and has just the right amount of pepper; the crispy toast just neutralizes the strong flavor, making it very delicious! ▫️CARAMEL BUTTER CORN $88 The Special Menu on the blackboard has a thin layer of caramel on the corn, which is wrapped in a rich sugar aroma and crispy when eaten. My friend likes it very much, but 👧🏽 thinks it tastes a bit sweet. ▪️OX TONGUE $88 The beef tongue is crispy, tender and juicy. ▫️PRAWN OKONOMEYAKT $168 A dish that my friend ordered by mistake, shrimp teriyaki. It's a bit like shrimp toast, crispy when eaten, and paired with teriyaki sauce, it has a rich and rich flavor and is a great side dish. ▪️CHICKEN WING GYOZA $98/piece Japanese chicken wing dumplings are a must-order dish in izakayas. They taste salty, mediocre, and a bit expensive. ▫️TOYO CHAR SIU $188 Oriental barbecued pork? ! 👦🏻 I like some niche dishes, but I am always surprised and delighted. It was indeed just a plate of ordinary sweet and lean char siu. Both of my companions said that char siu without fat was not up to standard, and the portion and price were a bit shocking. ▪️WAGYU STRAK $358 The wagyu beef and mushrooms go surprisingly well together. The medium rare wagyu beef is tender and juicy, and the mushrooms absorb the rich sauce and just neutralize the greasiness of the wagyu beef, making the taste very rich! ▫️UNIGIRI $278 The rice balls are baked until slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and paired with sea urchin with a slight butter aroma, they are soft and melt-in-the-mouth. The basil leaves add a refreshing touch and enhance the flavor. Paired with abalone broth, it is definitely a pleasant surprise! ▪️UDON $278 The udon was chewy and there was plenty of crab meat. The miso sauce was quite rich, overpowering the umami flavour of the crab meat; after mixing the egg yolk, the whole taste was salty and heavy. ▫️COCONUT ICE CREAM $108 Coconut sorbet with shiso leaf ice at the bottom; it has a refreshing taste and is great for cooling off. ▪️MISO ICE CREAM Thank you for the little gift of miso ice cream. The salty ice cream is paired with yuzu and matcha cookies, which is quite interesting. This izakaya in Soho has a low-key facade but a unique atmosphere inside. The food quality is good, but not amazing; probably due to the location, the price is a bit on the expensive side.
