The tranquil scenery of the ancient city of Quanzhou

#SeptemberTravelSupport Quanzhou is a city located in Fujian Province. It is the third largest city in Fujian Province, after Fuzhou and Xiamen. After the COVID-19 pandemic, it has seen an increase in tourists, as Chinese historians have recommended it as a must-visit city. If Xi'an is to Korea what Gyeongju is to Korea, Quanzhou is to Korea what Gongju and Buyeo are to China. Since the Song Dynasty, it has been a hub for international trade as part of the Maritime Silk Road. Perhaps because of this, the city has preserved a number of architectural styles influenced by Southeast Asian and Arabic cultures. A small clock tower is located on Xijie Street, and nearby are twin pagodas dating back to the Song Dynasty. I heard that during the Song Dynasty, a major earthquake struck, but the two tallest pagodas survived, giving it a religious significance. Near Xijie Street is a converted house-turned-cafe. Other well-preserved old-world cityscapes include Wulin, Wudianshi, and Chongwu. All share the architectural style of red walls and roofs, and they're even more beautiful than they appear in photos. The local women are also famous for their hair ornaments called "zhanhua" (簪花), and they even offer hair ornament and clothing rentals.
