Recently had an unforgettable stay in Istanbul at Tashkonak Hotel. The hotel is located in the Sultanahmet district, and the location is absolutely fantastic! It's less than a fifteen-minute walk from the hotel to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and the Grand Bazaar. For first-time visitors, this is definitely a "strategic spot"! 😊 The location is undoubtedly one of the highlights of this hotel. The surrounding area is very convenient for transportation, making it easy to go wherever you want. In the morning, you're gently awakened by the call to prayer from the mosque, an experience that’s full of local charm. The hotel’s decor has a strong historical vibe, and while some areas might seem a bit dated, the retro style is balanced with modern comfort. The front desk staff tried to communicate in simple English but were incredibly warm and welcoming. They even took the time to recommend authentic local dishes and even showed us around the main street. Such thoughtful service really warms the heart. The rooms are compact but practical, and while not luxurious, they’re very comfortable. 🌟 The rooms are clean and tidy overall, and the beds are especially comfortable. Though not large, they’re just right for travelers. The bathroom has plenty of hot water and is very clean. The only minor issue was a slight odor in one of the rooms, likely from the drain, but it didn’t affect the overall stay. Breakfast is another highlight, with a rich selection every day—especially the scrambled eggs, which were absolutely delicious! For those wanting to experience an authentic Turkish breakfast, this will definitely exceed expectations. For those looking to soak up Istanbul’s authentic atmosphere, I’d recommend visiting the Süleymaniye Mosque and the Basilica Cistern. If you get tired, take a break at Last Ottoman Cafe & Restaurant nearby and enjoy some delicious Turkish coffee. The evenings in Sultanahmet have a wonderful ambiance—perfect for a leisurely stroll along the quiet streets. Of course, nothing is perfect. Some of the hotel’s facilities are a bit old, and the soundproofing isn’t great, so you might hear noise from neighboring rooms.
