Day trip to Kamakura ✨ We drove out to Kamakura and made our first stop at the Great Buddha — so peaceful in the early morning light, with barely any crowd around. Then dropped by at Komachi Dori Street to browse local snacks and cute souvenirs. After that, we headed to the famous Kamakura Koko Mae Station, finally seeing the iconic ocean view and train passing by with our own eyes (yes, just like in the anime scenes!). Since I’m in Japan, the birthplace of tonkatsu, visiting a renowned tonkatsu restaurant is a must for me. Let me introduce you to New Babe, a famous and popular tonkatsu spot in Osaka, loved by both locals and tourists alike. New Babe is a chain restaurant with about 4-5 locations in Osaka. I visited the main branch, which is about a 25-minute walk from Dotonbori. After enjoying a delicious meal at New Babe, the walk back to Dotonbori is perfect for digestion. As a tonkatsu specialty restaurant, their menu is quite detailed, offering various cuts and grades of pork. We decided to go with the staff’s recommendations and ordered the Hirekatsu and Love Rosukatsu. The Hirekatsu melted in my mouth, offering a texture more akin to tuna or salmon than pork—it was absolutely delightful. Meanwhile, the Rosukatsu had the perfect balance of fat, delivering a burst of savory flavor with every bite. For dessert, we were served refreshing sherbet ice cream and warm tea, which made for a satisfying finish to the meal. Plus, writing a review on Google Maps earned us a 5% discount! Those who come in April will see cherry blossoms around the temple area. It should be very beautiful. 03: KANNON COFFEE kamakura When you get here, you must stop by this shop. Fruit crepes with cookies in the shape of the Buddha. I'll whisper that they're only sold in Kamakura. There are quite a few seats in the shop. Most of them are takeaways. They're delicious. The classic train runs through the sea in the background, plus the beautiful sky. Looking at it makes you feel like you've been transported to the anime world. 05: Shichirigahama A beach where you can chill along the streets of Kamakura. From this corner, if the weather is good, you can see both Mt. Fuji and Enoshima Island at the same time. At first, I thought I wouldn't be able to see it, so I took the train back again. Seeing this picture in front of me, I must say it's totally worth it. 06: Enoshima Island From Enoshima Station, walk across the bridge for a while and you'll find Enoshima Island. Along the way, there are cute cafes to stop and rest along the way. For those who love seafood and raw fish, come here, I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Apart from delicious food, a nice walking street, an old neighborhood, there's also 'Shirasu fish' or what we call a small fish, which is a symbol of this place. Souvenirs, food, desserts, and even ice cream, here, almost everything has small fish as an ingredient. 07: Cafe Yoridokoro A cafe from Inamuragasaki Station that is famous for its photo locations and its menu items like Saba fish rice, with a signature soft and fluffy egg that we have to make ourselves. The shop will provide equipment, which is the fun part, haha. The best place to sit and get the most beautiful photos is the outdoor area. You can ask the shop to reserve a table for you. This shop has tourists queuing up since the shop opens. 08: The Sunrise Shack (Inamura-gasaki Store) Walk along the beach a little further out of the alley and you'll find a street full of cafes. Rows of dozens of shops We stumbled upon this shop and felt that the shop's design was cute and the menu was not expensive. Most importantly, the view from the 2nd floor of the shop was very beautiful. The shop is not very popular among tourists. We mostly saw Japanese people. I recommend it. 09: Pacific DRIVE-IN A cafe and a photo spot that you must come to do! Get off at Shichirigahama Station. The vibes are great. The shop is by the sea. The light is beautiful. After that, I wandered through Kyoto’s charming streets, window shopping and soaking in the traditional atmosphere. The next day, I traveled to Tokyo, diving into the city’s vibrant energy. I visited the historic Sensoji Temple, took in the stunning skyline from Shibuya Sky, and explored the anime and gaming wonderland of Akihabara.
