🌶 Spicy and Fresh Chongqing Hotpot 🌶 The hotpot restaurant formerly known as Yuwei Xiaoyu has been renamed Uncle Fang, still specializing in traditional Chongqing hotpot. The name has changed, but the flavor remains the same. 🍬 Upon entering, the staff will remind customers to add sesame oil and minced garlic to the sauce to reduce the irritation of spicy food. They then serve a slightly sweet and nourishing red date and snow fungus syrup to warm their stomachs. 🌶🐔 Soup Base ($38 per person) I chose a two-pot combination: a regular spicy large red hotpot and a sweet and sour fish maw and chicken hotpot. ✨ Spicy options are available, and those who love spicy food can choose to blanch meats and meatballs in the spicy broth. The aroma of dried chilies, Sichuan peppercorns, and butter is incredibly fragrant, spicy, and delicious, and the more you eat, the more you enjoy it. For women who love nourishment, the fish maw and chicken broth is perfect for blanching vegetables, effectively neutralizing the spiciness. The chicken soup comes with chicken pieces and fish maw, making it a delicious and nourishing dish. 🐮 US Prime Beef Short Ribs (Half Portion) $138 The short ribs are crisply marbled, and the beef is fresh and flavorful. Highly recommended. 🪸 Osmanthus Clams (Half Portion) $88 Osmanthus clams are not as crispy as coral clams, but rather have a smooth, fresh texture. 🦐 Hand-Made Four Treasures Balls (One Portion) $108 They come in beef, shrimp, eel, and cuttlefish varieties. The cuttlefish balls are incredibly chewy and brimming with cuttlefish, making them my favorite. 🦐 Hand-Made Shrimp Balls with Fish Roe (Half Portion) $58 The hand-made shrimp balls with fish roe are smooth and chewy. You can also order them with a half-and-half-flavor version. 🐷 Chongqing Fried Crispy Pork (half portion) $38 The crispy pork is already cooked and can be eaten right away, or you can blanch it in the broth for a few seconds for a crispy and delicious flavor. 🌱 Freshly Fried Bean Curd (one portion) $68 Fried to order, the large pieces of Bean Curd are like bamboo shoots. We recommend blanching the Bean Curd for about one minute (not like a ringing bell; blanching too quickly will make it tough). This allows the essence of the broth to be absorbed into the Bean Curd, making it delicious. 🌱 Kung Fu Lettuce Slices (one portion) $96 I really appreciate the restaurant's thinly sliced lettuce slices, which look so charming. The crisp and sweet bamboo shoots are a must-have for hot pot! 🥟 Special Mini Bird's Nest Dumplings (half portion) $48 The miniature Bird's Nest dumplings are cute and chewy, like fish skin dumplings. Worth a try. 🐷 Fragrant Braised Pork Intestines (Half Portion) $38 The braised pork intestines have a richer flavor, a plump texture, and no fat. They're cleaned thoroughly, making them a safe and satisfying dish. 🍜 Wulong Sweet Potato Vermicelli (Half Portion) $28 This is a thicker version of sweet potato vermicelli, with a stronger tang and a smoky, chewy texture. 🍡 Brown Sugar Rice Cake $48 The dessert ended with brown sugar rice cakes. The cakes weren't fried to the golden golden color I'd expected, but rather pale in color. The outer layer wasn't quite as crispy, but the inside was soft and glutinous. Dipping them in brown sugar and soybean flour, they were still quite delicious. 🔸Summary: The restaurant's food and service are both excellent. They even provide aprons, so diners can wear them while enjoying hot pot without worrying about staining their clothes. The restaurant's prices are very affordable, and with half or full portions available, even two people can order a wide variety of dishes.
