Zeshui Xu Shaolu Residence in Longyou, Zhejiang

The Zeshui Xu Shaolu Residence, a robust building from the mid-Republic of China period, covers an area of 460 square meters and features a three-hall, two-courtyard layout with an upstairs hall. The wood carvings around the front courtyard primarily depict themes of good fortune, prosperity, longevity, and happiness, while the rear courtyard showcases scenes from theatrical stories such as "Mu Guiying Takes Command." Slogans and quotations preserved from the Cultural Revolution reflect the historical trajectory of that era. Now designated as a Rural Revitalization Exhibition Hall, it is a key cultural relic protection unit in Zhejiang Province. The homeowner, Xu Shaolu (1904-1976), was the first university student in the village after the abolition of the imperial examination system. He enrolled in Zhejiang Institute of Technology in August 1923 and taught in middle schools and Quzhou Normal School in Quzhou and Longyou. He also served as a primary school principal and a member of the Longyou County Council.
