Packed and ready, I arrived at the Hotel Puerta del Sol, located in the heart of Madrid at Calle Sevilla 4. This prime spot in the bustling city offers excellent transportation links, just a short walk from Sol and Banco de España metro stations. Although the Sevilla metro station is currently closed for construction, it didn't dampen my travel enthusiasm one bit. The hotel's location is truly unbeatable, with major attractions like Retiro Park and the Prado National Museum within easy walking distance. While the hotel itself doesn’t have a bar, don’t worry—nearby restaurants and bars are plentiful and dazzling ✨. The decor might not meet all expectations for a 4-star hotel, but it’s functional overall, with spacious and clean rooms. The reception service was attentive, handling check-in smoothly and making us feel warmly welcomed. The room, though compact, was well-equipped and cozy. The bed might not rival a five-star hotel’s comfort, but the pillows provided a good night’s sleep. The room stayed warm at night, though the lack of a proper duvet (only a thin blanket) was a slight letdown. The balcony was a bonus, offering a peaceful spot to enjoy Madrid’s evening charm 🌇. For nearby recommendations, the Brunchit chain is a must! Whether it’s Brunchit Plaza Mayor or Brunchit - Las Letras, these spots serve up delicious and varied breakfast options. Los Montes de Galicia is also worth a visit, and all are within walking distance. Shopping enthusiasts won’t want to miss Gran Vía! While construction noise starts early in the morning, the convenience of the location and access to stunning sights make it a minor trade-off. Opt for a well-positioned room—Room 208 might be best avoided due to slightly louder noise 🏗️. One tiny flaw: if you’re particularly picky about comfort, the room furnishings and bedding might feel a bit basic. But the hotel’s prime location and service more than make up for it. I’d definitely consider staying here again to soak up the convenience and vibrancy of the city center 🌟.
