Munich isn’t just about beer gardens and markets – its churches are breathtaking pieces of history and architecture. 🏰⛪ I started with the Frauenkirche (Cathedral of Our Dear Lady), with its iconic twin domes that dominate Munich’s skyline. Climbing up the south tower rewarded me with sweeping views of the city and the Alps in the distance. Next was Asamkirche, a true hidden gem. Though small, every inch is filled with dramatic baroque details, golden decorations, and frescoes that made me stop in awe. At St. Peter’s Church, Munich’s oldest, I climbed the 300+ steps up the tower – tiring but so worth it for the panoramic view of Marienplatz below. Watching the Glockenspiel from above felt magical. Finally, I stopped by Theatinerkirche, glowing in bright yellow with its grand Italian-style façade, adding a Mediterranean vibe right in the heart of Bavaria. Munich’s churches aren’t just places of worship – they’re living art galleries, each telling a different story of the city’s past.
