Nagoya, a charming travel story where tradition and modernity coexist

#July Travel Support Fund Nagoya is less well-known than Tokyo and Osaka, but it was actually a quieter and more leisurely city to travel to. It was convenient as a big city, but there were many traditional attractions here and there, making it a fulfilling trip. The first stop was Nagoya Castle. The castle with its impressive golden Shachihoko standing tall in the middle of the city was really cool. The inside of the castle was decorated as a historical exhibition hall, so I could feel Nagoya's past and tradition, and the view of the city from the observation deck at the top was also great. After that, I visited Osu Kannon Temple and the shopping street. The shopping street around the temple was like a small traditional town. It was fun just to look around because it was full of kimono shops, traditional sweets, and accessories, and the miso katsu I ate on the street was really delicious. When you think of Nagoya, you can't miss Nagoya-style hitsumabushi (eel on rice)! The three ways to eat the crispy-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside eel as is, with wasabi and green onions, and finally pouring the soup over it and eating it as ochazuke were really special. Another impressive place was the Nagoya City Science Museum. It had the world's largest planetarium, so it felt like I was in outer space. It was a place that everyone from children to adults could enjoy, so it was perfect for a family trip. In the evening, I walked around the Sakae area and enjoyed the night view of the Nagoya TV Tower and Oasis 21, and I felt the modern and sophisticated city atmosphere. Nagoya is a city where tradition and modernity are naturally combined, and I was satisfied with the delicious food, culture, and shopping.
