Between the subway stations Yotsuya-Sanchome Station and Akebonobashi Station, there is a slope with a slight difference in elevation called Sharikimon-dori. The explanation of Sharikimon-dori says, "In the Edo period, when Arakicho was the residence of Matsudaira Settsunokami, it was called Sharikimon Yokocho, and goods were brought to the residence by cart." It is not a straight, flat road, but has a slight difference in elevation and winds around Araki Park and Kanamaru Inari Shrine. There were many restaurants (independent shops) in the area where you could enjoy a variety of alcoholic drinks. There was also Uehara Shokudo (a shaved ice specialty shop) that was full to capacity. There were also stores that were popular with young people and women. I also got the impression that there were a lot of tonkatsu specialty shops!
