Located in the heart of Sofia, Bulgaria's capital, "St. Nicholas of Sofia" is a small church with a rich history that remains relatively unknown to tourists. Unlike the famous Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, this church offers a quieter and more serene sacred atmosphere. The exterior is made of bright stone, with a roof featuring the typical dome shape of Eastern Orthodox churches. We visited in the soft afternoon light, and the sunlight illuminating the bell tower and cross made for stunning photographs. Inside, the walls are adorned with old religious paintings and mosaics, creating a solemn atmosphere despite the small space. When visiting, it is recommended to act quietly and respectfully. Nearby, you can also find Sofia University and the National Library, making this area a great cultural walking route.
