The Sicilian Sea: Surprises, Serenity and Silence ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

The Sicilian Sea never fails to amaze me. Sicily is one of those rare destinations that will deliver what you're looking for all year round. โ˜€๏ธ Visit in summer for unbeatable sun and luxurious lidos โ›… Visit in low or shoulder season for serene moments while renting a car and navigating the beautiful clifftop towns This time, I actually visited in the shoulder season. ๐Ÿ๏ธ My week started with a visit to Isola Bella, just of the coast of Taormina - you have to visit this area on your visit to Eastern Sicily. At low tide, take the short walk over to the island for a beautiful perspective of the Sicilian coast. Enjoy a cocktail or three at the local seafront Trattoria. ๐Ÿฐ The town of Aci Castello was next on my list, featuring a grand Norman Castle. The town became popular after a devastating Mount Etna eruption displaced locals across the island and forced them to retreat to towns like this. The only noise you'll get here is the sound of the crashing waves against the castle walls. ๐Ÿ›๏ธ If you're hiring a car, I'd recommend a journey over to Syracuse, a small city steeped in Greek tradition. Greek influence shines here and there's even a Greek theatre to remind you of the island's deep history. โ›ฑ๏ธ Next it was onto Giardini Naxos, a charming seaside resort with a plethora of traditional Trattorias and even archaeological museums. ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ The last evening of my trip and I had to visit Taormina again, to enjoy the last few hours of the sun. I took a seat at the local Ristorante and enjoyed impeccable antipasti and sympathetic service from the locals. My top tips: ๐Ÿš— Hiring a car is a must and gives you all the flexibility you need ๐Ÿ˜Ž Summer is baking hot - prepare well in advance โ›… Visit in November like me for the best deals on accommodation and best deals on weather - sun without the sting #siciliansea #italy #italiansun #road_trip

#AbsolutelyFreeTrip ๐Ÿ๏ธSicily | A paradise of sunshine and history floating in the Mediterranean Sicily, located at the southern tip of Italy, is attractive for its sun-drenched seaside towns and rich history that has continued since ancient times. There are many attractions, such as the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, where Greek ruins remain, the city of Taormina overlooking the blue sea, and the impressive Etna volcano. On the island, you can enjoy gourmet food such as arancini (rice croquettes), cannoli, and gelato, which are specialties of Sicily. To access, fly from major Italian cities such as Rome and Milan to Palermo Airport or Catania Airport. Once there, you can travel by rental car or train. Sicily is a place where you can enjoy the strong Mediterranean sunshine, historical ruins, beautiful seaside towns, and a rich food culture all at once. It is a recommended destination for history lovers and resort lovers alike. #Sicily #Italy trip #Absolutely free trip #Mediterranean resort #Agrigento #Taormina #Mount Etna #Sicilian cuisine #World Heritage Site #Ruins tour #Gourmet trip
