Tokyo Art Winter Journey: minä perhonen Exhibition "Tsudzuku" Archive "minä perhonen / Akira Minagawa Tsudzuku" is a commemorative exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo. This exhibition, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the brand's founding, embodies Akira Minagawa's vision of "creating something that will last for 100 years," and expresses this vision through a grandiose worldview, embodied in the word "tsudzuku." ⸻ Exhibition Key Points • Dates and Venue: • Period: November 16, 2019 - February 16, 2020    • Venue: Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, Special Exhibition Room (3rd floor), Kiba Park  • Exhibition Structure: • The exhibition space is divided into eight concepts: "Fruit," "Forest," "Wind," "Sprout," "Seed," "Root," "Soil," and "Sky," each symbolizing a particular aspect of minä perhonen's philosophy.  • The exhibition was designed by architect Tsuyoshi Tane (Atelier Tsuyoshi Tane Architects), with graphic design by Kaoru Kasai.   • Exhibition Contents: • A wide range of creative materials, including textiles, products, clothing, interior design, original design drawings, illustrations, and video materials, are on display, weaving together the brand's worldview and production process.   • In particular, the exhibition is characterized by intimate episodes, such as newspaper illustrations, a space connecting personal clothing and memories, and video works.   • Rich Experiences and Events: • Attractive items for sale included venue-exclusive merchandise, the pigeon sculpture "Havsduva - Pigeon of the Seaside," and collaborative goods.  • A fashion show (Japan's first), talk events, theater performances, and numerous food-themed events were also held, attracting more than 140,000 visitors over 93 days.    • A message filled with emotion: • The word "tsuzuku" (lasting) not only expresses the belief of a century-old brand, but also embodies diverse creative energies such as "connecting," "circulating," and "overlapping." At the "minä perhonen/Akira Minagawa Tsuzuku" exhibition held at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, a diverse range of materials, from dreamy textiles to original drawings, videos, and fragments of everyday life, were connected in a sophisticated space. The eight rooms that combine architecture and graphics, as well as merchandise such as dove sculptures, are also captivating. The Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (MOT) is hosting the following exhibition from Saturday, August 23, 2025 to Monday, November 24, 2025 (substitute holiday).  ⸻ 🖼 30th Anniversary Exhibition "Choreography of Everyday Life" • Period: Saturday, August 23, 2025 – Monday, November 24, 2025 (Substitute Holiday) • Overview: More than 30 artists, primarily from Asia, will participate in this exhibition, creating installations themed around "everyday movement." Through a variety of media, including performance and video, the exhibition aims to rediscover the "choreography" hidden in everyday life. • Features: Live performances by artists are also planned within the venue, allowing viewers to directly engage with the artworks.  ⸻ 🎨 30th Anniversary Exhibition "MOT Collection: Nine Profiles 1935-2025" • Dates: Saturday, August 2, 2025 – Monday, November 24, 2025 (Substitute Holiday) • Overview: This exhibition offers a bird's-eye view of contemporary art through the "profiles" of nine artists selected from the MOT's collection, spanning the 90-year period from 1935 to 2025. • Features: Experience the evolution of artistic expression across each era through a variety of media, including painting, sculpture, and video.  ⸻ 🧪 Akira Sasamoto Laboratory • Dates: Saturday, August 23, 2025 – Monday, November 24, 2025 (Substitute Holiday) • Overview: This mid-career solo exhibition showcases the work of New York-based artist Akira Sasamoto, spanning approximately 20 years. This exhibition traces the creative path of Sasamoto, known for his works in which the artist himself places sculptures and installations in a space and performs improvisational performances. • Features: This is an experiential exhibition with a strong interactive element, allowing viewers to directly engage with the works.   ⸻ 📅 30th Anniversary Special "MOT Plus Project" • Overview: To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the MOT, 2025 marks the launch of the "MOT Plus Project," an experimental project that goes beyond the traditional exhibition format.
